I've been very comfortable in my new winter getup, consisting of all black materials: jacket, pants, boots, gloves, and balaclava, topped with a safety vest for visibility. Arriving home yesterday, my 3 yr. old son told me I look like a robot, and my wife offered up more of a "scuba diver crossed with a crossing guard sort of look".

As my sig suggests, a sense of humor is an important tool in life. Any entertaining insights into winter cycle dress?

I think the funnest piece of my winter outfit is my beard, I grow it for warmth, but on those long commutes or just riding I tend to get icicles growing from them. It's great fun to walk in with ice hanging off your face and get a "You're hard core, dude."

I'm told I look like more of a ninja than a robot or diver.

I've never received a description of what I look like on my bicycle, but my wife has told me that I am referred to as "that guy" when she's talking to someone and the conversation gets around to what her husband does and then she inevitably says something about me riding my bike to work year-round.
