Actually, I'm not a kid---I'm a geezer (39) but I am looking forward to doing some MTB racing. I've been running off and on since 1979 and started doing triathlons (8 sprints so far) in 2001. My wife and I just bought Cannondales---She got a leftover Terra and I got a Jekyll 500. I plan to ride mostly for fun and recreation and maybe do a few races between triathlons. I hope the Jekyll is race worthy. I'm sure it will be fine for a beginner. I'm still getting used to the clipless pedals and I have a few good bruises to prove it. I've lightened them up quite a bit but I think I freeze up before I can get out of them and then I go over.
Looking forward to reading up on the forums and getting hooked. Just what I need---another addiction!

You're in the right place, even if you are one of those mountain bikers. Was the store out of real bikes?

Welcome to my nightmare :)

Should you be a reasonable minded (i.e., not a right-winger) please opt-in to the political forums. Learn to ride and argue

Hell, I've got a basement full of real bikes including a 1986 Specialized Rockhopper, 1982 Fuji Del Rey, 2001 Cannondale R500, and a 2002 Cervelo One. I haven't ridden the Rockhopper in years. I am going to clean it up and hang it from my office ceiling. The Fuji is on a trainer (wife rides it, not me). The R500 is for sale (I never did a road race and don't plan on it). Triathlon is my first love but this MTB thing looks like fun. I think it would be best not to mix politics with something fun.
