I don't know about key commands, but you can go into My Computer and right click the drive and click eject.

On mine there is a tiny little butten recessed in the case a bit just under the tray. You need a paper clip or something like that to push it and it'll open the tray. I think most CD Roms should have something like it.

Yup - what Taerom said. It's a pin hole somewhere on the front. You'll have to push hard because you're basically pushing a lever that's turning gears to push the tray out.

I like this little program for controlling your CDROM from your desktop (like they do on Mac's):

http://www.tooler.aionel.net/

I have two shortcuts, one to open and one to close my CD.

You'll need a jig saw and a dremel.

Kick it like it just kicked your dog. If you do it right, the computer will stop working.

Now take that corpse of a PC to a shop, and have them get the CD out for you :p

....nah, just use the paperclip or "my computer".

Also consider replacing the drive. If it's jsut a CD-ROM, then grab a DVD-ROM drive for around $20-30, depending on if you get DVD playback software with it. If it's a burner, $50 at the most for a decent one.

CDROMs are very cheap if you ever get sick of paperclipping it. also don't paperclip it when its spinning really fast, as that is an emergency door open method, it doesn't stop the disk first, i did it on purpose once to see if the disk would fly or anything, but since part that actually spins the disk doesn't come out, it just jolted the disk while spinning at a full 52x, and the disk shattered, tiny metallic plastic splinters everywhere, it was awesome. cd drive was toast anyway. but seriously, you should be able to get a used drive for $5 or $10, new for $20, dvd rom for $30, cdrw combo drive for $60, cheapo brand dvd burner for $60, good one for $90.

also don't make spirographs on your cpu fan with a ball point pen when its spinning, its fun for a minute but the pen will heat up and the tip comes off and the ink comes out and splatters ink everywhere, also awesome, also messy

...and the disk shattered, tiny metallic plastic splinters everywhere, it was awesome..

exploding cd's are scary. A couple years ago, my brother and I put a cd in the comp that had been sitting on the dashboard of his truck in the cold for a while. After a couple of minutes, the cd pretty much exploded in the drive. The cd tray flew open and pieces of CD Shrapnel flew out all over the place. Luckily, I wasn't sitting right in front of the comp, that could've been dangerous!
