I can say this right now...west coast...I am in fact going to include Canada simply because...well..I'm Canadian

North Shore, BC
Whislter, BC (ok done that for a year but only hit 10% of the massive number of trails)
Nelson, BC
Golden, BC
Oregon
California (big state not sure where to go)

Thats really it, maybe a few throughout the midwest and over in the states but I have no interest in anything east of Canada anymore. Except maybe newfieland...

I've always wanted to ride at Moab. I also would like to ride at Sedona, too.... I was out there for a while on vacation but didn't have a bike. I rented one for a couple of days but it wasn't nearly enough time to ride.

ya, we're all partial to what we've experienced. i was in moab, though, and decided not to even ride because there were sooo many people there. i'm sure you could get out on the trail and be a little more isolated, but i really hate trendy vacation spots, especially when i'm looking for somewhere to ride. i actually ended up driving past arches national park to this isolated area called beef basin, where there wasn't a sole in sight, or even a human trail. my friends and i rode a dried up river bed and mountain goat trails, and loved it. being from the northwest, i share maelstrom's love of jungle and woods and moss. it was really strange riding where there wasn't any trees on the slickrock in utah, where everyone seems to rave about. i think most places can be the "greatest place to ride", it all depends on your experience there.

I was in Crested Butte, CO., this summer, and rode some of the sweetest single track ever! Flowers were in bloom, and this one trail was a ribbon of pure delight!

Brian Head (http://www.anthonysloan.com/BrianHead.html) is nice. Sort of like a combination of Durango and Moab, with no crowds.

Montana de Oro (http://www.anthonysloan.com/San_Luis_Obispo,_Feb__2003.html) has a bit of nice singletrack.

Sedona (http://www.anthonysloan.com/Sedona,_Feb_2003.html) is always worth a look. It gets a bit twinkle ding-dong in town, what with all the peroxide blonde spiritualism and what not. But there's trail a plenty.

South Mountain (http://www.anthonysloan.com/South_Mountain,_Feb_2003.html) as mentioned, has heaps o' nice trail.

Durango is a must do as well. No pics, as everyone's seen that.

Thanks for all the great replies. Durango and Fruita, CO both seem like they are must rides...Crested Butte sounds interesting as well! Thanks again.
