Velowerk (http://velowerk.ch) apparently specializes in outfitting new bikes into high-utility commuter vehicles and long-life bikes. Offerings include folding bikes from Dahon and the Trice-Q folding recumbent trike.

Site is not in English, but you can hit up altavista or google for a translation.

They are a big fan of the Big Apples too. Go to the section entitled "baloonbikes". There they compare the "experience" of the Big Apples. It is an interesting read toward the bottom of the page mechanical suspension vs. baloon suspension.

I was just reading some of the customized Dahon bikes that they offer. I thought the doublespeed with an 8 speed Shimano Nexus and a Schlumpf high speed drive in the bottom bracket was very interesting. Prices start at 2500 Swiss Francs = $2000 USD.
