Does anybody have experience w/ these??
I dont know the hub model... both hubs simply have a nice crest w/ "Made Italy" stamped beneath it

I'm working on this 1972 531 Libertas and these appear to be of at least good quality. Quite the unique blend of components on this cycle....
I've never used OFMEGA before and, am wondering how they compare to my Normandies, Schwinn, and Campy's. I think they are merged w/ Avocet nowadays??
Thanks

Lower than Campag, better than Normandy IMHO

Ofmega hubs are typically sound, but as Carroll Smith says "Give the part a chance!".

Lace the wheels in a 3 cross pattern to hedge your bets. What happens with 2 cross, and (heavens no) radial spoke lacing, the spoke is trying to rip it's way out of the hub flange, and the more the spoke is in a "radial" attitude, the less meat to resist this force is forward of the spoke (direction of "pull").

I have had no problems with old Ofmega components, including hubs, but since Ofmega is a more obscure brand (in the States), and information regarding their forging practices etc. are harder to come by......I would definitely use every component within the perameter of it's intended usage.

Besides the quality of the bearings and the "straightness" of the axle, the hub flange will dictate whether the wheel stays "in tune".

Basically, I always try to maximize the reliabilty of vintage components.

Lower than Campag, better than Normandy IMHO I concur. I currently have a pair of circa 1980 low-flange 36-hole Ofmegas on the 1959 Capo, courtesy of the Bianchi, for which I built a 32-spoke Campagnolo Gran Sport / Campagnolo Omega wheelset.

My experience with Normandy Luxe Competition hubs includes a broken rear axle and a bent front axle (both hollow / QR), problems I have never encountered with any Ofmega, Campagnolo, Shimano, or Sunshine hub. I did break a solid rear axle on a circa 1970 Atom hub, leading me to believe they are no better than Normandys.

While I have not noted quality problems with any of the Italian hubs, I have experienced problems getting replacement parts for poorly maintained pairs. Many of these hubs resemble Campagnolo, but they may not use Campagnolo axle/cone threading. It is also not the ISO thread standard. The hubs in question were either Ofmega or Gipiemme, but I do not recall which. Can you comment John E?

I recently replaced the cones on my early 70's Ofmega hubs with Campagnolo hubs purchased form Loosescrews and they threaded on the axles perfectly. The profile of the Ofmega cones were slightly different than the Campagnolos, but not by much.
