The bike I have hanging in my furnace room is a '92 miyata nine 14, with full 105 gruppo (indexed dtube r. der. shifter; friction front d. shifter).
I was thinking of swapping out the 105 cranks for some sugino cranks I have, just for aesthetics. I kind of want to lose the "space 1999" clunky plastic design of the 105s. Should any crankset be okay, or would there be a compatibility problem retrofitting cranks made for an 8 or 9 speed cassette to a 7 speed (besides octalink/square taper--i.e.: spacing and chains).
