Southeast - Moving to St. Marys GA.....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

..aside from the beach in Fernadina(sp?) any other good MTN spots reasonably close?? Not sure if this helps but St. Marys is a coastal city in the very SE corner on top of Florida. Thanks.
Wow, not sure but who needs mtb trails when you have Cumberland Island so close! Lucky.
Dude, time to take up touring on your mtn bike. There are a ton of cool places right around you. ^^Cumberland, Blackbeard, The Okefenokee, you are in a target rich environment.

There's a cycling club in St. Mary's if you're interested. Can't find a link right now. I hope you like sand gnats.

Hmmm, well okay, thanks for the info though I was really hoping for some singletrac. Cumberland Island is beyond great but bikes are allowed only on the roads and you can only bring your bike via private craft or get a charter. I can't say I'm super excited about touring but Im willing to bet in the absence of MTNbiking I'll learn to love it. I know they offer bike tours at okefenokee, but do they have built trails there too? I would like more info on this blackbeard though.
Get in touch with http://www.swampclub.org/ . These guys ride alot and regularly drive up to North GA. to ride. I'm sure they can give you some insight into the area.
Good Luck!

The East side of the Okefenokee Swamp Park doesn't really have any trails for mountain biking. There is a nature trail at Laura S. Walker State Park on the other side of US1 but I don't think it would live up to a MTB'ers expectations. The Satilla Cycling Club (of which I'm a member) is based in Waycross and does a lot of road riding between the Swamp Park and HWY 82. They also do a lot of riding around Waycross, though most of it is road. Good luck finding decent off road cycling around here.

Blackbeard (http://www.fws.gov/blackbeardisland/)
One can't camp or have a fire on Blackbeard, but biking is allowed.
Cumberland Island (http://www.nps.gov/cuis/) is in your backyard, as is Sapelo (http://gastateparks.org/info/sapelo/)
