Nah, that seems to be accurate. Of course, that ignores fossil fuel pollution related deaths (more), as well as high cholesterol (way more), which intelligent transportation could reduce. I think a nice graphic representation of how many people die from what's linked to autos each year would be better...
I just looked up statistics on the World Health Organization site and 1.2 million deaths a year from car crashes seems to be the correct number.

I wouldn't expect it to be a top seller, and I could see some of the more sensitive folks seeing it as a bit much - but I think most people will think it's fine.

I like it. It might be a bit to much for some, but I am shure some people will buy it.

You will amuse the people that already agree with you. Will it convert any of the people that disagree with you? I spent years trying to tell one of my eco-warrior friends that *****ing at people for eating off of styrofoam plates would only make them want to eat off of more styrofoam plates. When people yell "Get off the road!", does that make you want to get off the road.
If you want to change somebody's way of thinking, make them think it was there idea.

*I'd* buy one, assuming it was in my price range.
Reactionary is the word that comes to mind when I see that graphic. Equating cars with guns is great if you see the world in terms of black and white, good and bad. Guns are designed to kill, cars to transport Thinking people will notice the difference between intended consequences and unintended consequences. It's juvenile at best.
You won't change any minds with that shirt, instead you'll look like a youngster who wants to rebel against the system but who has no coherent argument.

People die in bicycle accidents too. Will there be a shirt available to reflect that?

Did you make that shirt or have it made? Just curious as I am in the shirt making business. If you made it what process did you use? Silk screening?

Only problem I see with it is that cars and guns are both inanimate objects. They don't kill by themselves. It takes ill informed, malicious, or ignorant operaters to make either one lethal. The shirt does not convey that.

In other words, they should sell really well to the "rebel without a clue" crowd found at Union Square, the East Village, and pretty much any college campus worldwide. *shrug*
I think it's great and I'm 51 years old.* And this is an issue that particularly affects young people, since for those under 40, auto accidents are, IIRC, the leading cause of death.
*Of course ziemas and some of the other fuddy-duddies probably think I'm immature for my age. ;) And zheesh, cabana, if you care too much what old people think, you are definitely squandering your youth.

Well, I was going to buy a gun and take it to the shooting range. However, after this thread I am thinking about purchasing a volvo and driving down the street. :p
I just don't think the kick will be quite the same.
I think the automatic weapon is a bit much. You might think about a graphic of a car hitting a person. A quick glance at your shirt to me says kill and guns.

And what about the 1.2 million killed by cars every year? You have no argument against that?

As a commuter, I like it....I dont know if I could wear it to my job, but I like it.
specificly, the cars as bullets is really creative......Maybe for another idea, how
about an image of an SUV, BreederWagon, hillbilly bigfoot truck or something like
that with images of bicycles and peds on the door like fighter aces did in the world
wars ?? An angry looking person with a cell phone as a driver......?

I like it - i think some posters here are over-thinking it. It may give some people pause.
( Actually the death toll is even higher than stated due to the deaths caused by a variety of inactivity-related illnesses).
Also i think Americans are far too passive about the 50,000 annual US auto death toll. Imagine the public reaction if that many people died in a terrorist attack. Obviously that is a concentrated event, which affects people more strongly, but a person from a non-driving culture might find our apathy about the 50,000 road deaths a year to be eerie. (And we're not even counting the severely injured).

I'd buy one if you had some made with women's cut t-shirts, though not to work. I think it would sell here in Portland.
And what about the 1.2 million killed by cars every year? You have no argument against that?
Um, we should all go back to bicycles, horses and buggies?
Way more then 1.2 million people in the States benefit in a number of ways from cars every year. You may not drive one, but unless you run off into the forest naked you are living off the benefits of motor transport, you killer you!
Do you really think the world is going to change to fit YOUR perfect model of it?
And zheesh, cabana, if you care too much what old people think, you are definitely squandering your youth.
I was going to post this, but Roody beat me to it. Dang.

Is it? Not in the short term.
Should it? Well...
I don't like the t-shirt. For all it's failings, a car is not bought as a weapon, so i don't see the sense in likening it to one. It will only provoke anti-bike reactions. I think the price of petrol t-shirts are much more likely to make drivers think.
Plenty of others like it though, so keep up the good work!

i do make them in womens cut. no girl has bought one yet, you would be the first.

I don't think the world will change at all unless somebody has in mind a better model. And if not me--who? First you imagine the dream, then you work to make it a reality.

I'm still seeing the picture of your cool CAReFREE design. Speaking of pictures, I think the B&W of the rider in snow (http://www.1lesscar.com/) is one of the best cycling photos I've ever seen. I'm using it as wallpaper on the PC.
