The way things are going with the riders boycotting the only riders in attendance may be french riders. The french may finally get what they want..... piss off enough people so only french riders are racing. This will finally allow a frenchmen to win.

"Brilliant!"

Speaking of "Brilliant!," I saw this pic of the Pinarello booth from Eurobike. They took a pic of Pereiro in yellow mid-tour and just say "Oscar Pereiro,Team Caisse D'Epargne, 2006 Tour de France."

Apparently the BMC booth was right next to Pinarello's too... :)

there's a small piece about Pereiro in Velo News (http://www.velonews.com/race/int/articles/11087.0.html), and his thoughts about the title of 'virtual winner' of the Tour. he comes across as super classy and muy simpatico.

Please tell me you are being sarcastic... I didn't see any smiley. I lost all resepect for Pereiro. For being a former teammate and then refusing to ride in 07 if he isn't awarded the TDF title is ********.

He may deserve the win (case is still pending) but what an unclassy move. Anyone rember the Heras Vuelta case? Denis Menchov showed class by not bad mouthing Heras and simply saying it woldn't be the same as winning it on that day.

The way I read it, Pereiro is simply saying that he won't participate in a race that does not abide by its own rules. I must agree that, if Landis is found guilty and no winner named in his place, the TdF loses some credibility. In my eyes, it is as if the organizers are simply turning their back on the issue, not wishing to acknowledge the issue.

i'll admit that i didn't read the article as closely as i should have, but then again, it seems that you haven't either.

Pereiro told the Spanish daily AS: "I want all this solved as soon as possible. All this talk of ‘virtual winner' doesn't do anyone any good."

True. I think the real problem is with the tour organizers and the UCI. Between Valverde not being giving a ceremony and all the other boycotting I think the Grand tour organizers need to re-think things.

You forgot the part about "if Landis is stripped". Perfectly reasonable.

It looks a little like sleazy marketing at first, but the winner is still in doubt and there is nothing incorrect about the photo and description.
