Heads up from the Chicago Bike Federation:

Event: Sheridan Road Reengineering Meeting
Date: Oct 26, 2006 07:00 pm
Hear the Wilmette engineering department make a 30-minute presentation on changes to Sheridan Road followed by a question-answer session 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Wilmette Village Hall, 1200 Wilmette Ave. The main topic is the pedestrian crossing at Gilson Park, which is generating some opposition in the community. The current plan calls for one traffic lane in each direction with a third continuous turn lane plus bike lanes in each direction. The support of residents on Sheridan Road and/or Wilmette residents for this plan is critical as the meeting is expected to attract residents advocating for four vehicular lanes without bike lanes.
