Thanks Octico!
I notice they did some trail maintenance on this section......all the exposed roots that you had to climb are gone. :(

looks like a mellow trail to get dirty on. Cool pics

Yeah its a real cheesy, mellow, but close to home trail. I don't have to travel far to get to it. It beats going to the gym and riding the stationary bike. The thing that kicked my arse was the wind.

I used to live on Malvern and Dale and kinda miss the closeness to the Loop

I only go to the Gym to swim now, some weight lifting but I won't touch their bikes w/ a 10ft pole
I won't go either I was just using that statement as form of comparison.

Neccros, I've heard mention of a side loop through the Los Coyotes golf course and Ralph B. Clark regional park. Are you familiar with it?

Thanks for posting the Loop photos. The Loop is one of my favorite riding trails. Just so many options. You can make the ride long or short, easy or hard. Some nice mellow parts and some really scary techincal parts and all right within a short distance around Fullerton.
If any of you are itching to try a cool trail - check out the Loop but first time, go out with someone who knows the route otherwise, you 'll get lost!!!!

Yeah no kidding this is my third time riding this loop I used Franko's Map this time and STILL had trouble finding my way.
Where is the trail head to this trail? I grew up in Fullerton and wasn't aware of it.

Most start at the courthouse. It's kinda convoluted, though, and there isn't a marked route. As others mentioned, don't try this on your own for the first time, cause you will get lost in Fullertonian Suburbia.

Like everyone says, this trail is hard to follow. Its best to have someone show you the first few times.
Here's a link to a trail map: http://www.socalmtb.com/socal/trails/maps/fullert1.htm

The only reference I have found regarding "Dead Cat Pass" is a short trail following the Fullerton Creek. The trail begins at Southwest corner of State College and Yorba Linda Blvd. Definately not the side loop I am interested in. Any other clues?

I'm not certain how Clark Park enters into the picture - it's way far away from the Loop. I mean like 10, 15 miles.
As to the Golf Course, if you are familiar with the Loop on the way back to the Courthouse (on the main chip trail), there is a steep right down about 1 1/2 before you reach the Courthouse. It goes along some rail road tracks and then into the golf course. The trail is fairly well marked although after he heave rains 2 years ago, was under water for some time and not rideable. Alot of the fun singletrck was washed away. This portion is fairly technical but is a fun add on to the Loop. Suggestion - meet up with some riders and ask them to show you the full trail. Otherwise there is no way to ride it all on your own.

Typically it is 11 miles (http://www.routeslip.com/map.php?map=6518).
Or, 14 miles (http://www.routeslip.com/map.php?map=12680) if you take the side loop around the Union Oil Fields.

Yep, 11 miles without the side loop. I ride this trail every Thursday with an old work mate. He's alot stronger then me so it turns into a great workout. All the climbs add up and by the end I feel great.
There's a bunch of people riding the loop, even at night. Are there any other local trails that allow night riding anymore?

I typically start riding around 6:00. There seems to be a big group that starts around 7:00 though. I usually see them leaving when I am finished and return to the parking lot.
Alright cool I usually ride in th daytime.
