Mountain Biking - Bought my real first MTB

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Bought my real first MTB for me and my wife. There was a nice sale at my LBS and tested couple of bikes out, Including Stumpjumper, Giant Rainier, Gary Fisher Tassajara. I ended up with 2 Tassajaras for me and my wife. I got one with disk brakes and my wife's is without. GF felt most comfortable and not bad on weight considering disk brakes. My wife tried the woman's version but she liked the man's frame better.
Liked the Stumpy but was not as comfortable and little overkill for me as far as price goes. The price was right on the Tassajaras. 640 for disk and 520 for non disk version. I hope I made a right decision and hopefully my wife and I will enjoy our bikes for a long time. If anyone have a good experience with these bikes or bad ones let me know. They are getting assembled and ready for pickup this Saturday.
Thanks.

If the fit is comfortable than you made the correct decision since that is the most important thing. Just make sure to get out and enjoy it as often as possible. I love just cruising the trails, it's a zen experience for me.

The Tassajara is a great bike. My co-worker asked for my advice on which bike to get, and the Tassa is the one I recommended!
You done good!
Enjoy the ride!

That is a rule, when they come in you have to post a pic.

i got one in 1995, and it's still in great shape. i also bought it due to the comfortable ride. gf does a good job at that-- what sucks is i payed $520 for mine back then, and it didn't even come with a front shock! anyways, i'm sure you'll enjoy it for a long time.
I did not know that's a rule. I'll take a pic of them when I pick them up :)
Thanks for positive responses. Makes me feel confident that I bought the right ones.

Yep... it's a rule. You know how in some states, you're required to obtain a new driver's license or state ID within a certain timeframe after getting a new address? Same idea. :D
Congrats on the new bike!

Hi,
Congrats on the new bikes. I looked up the Gary Fisher Tassajara 2003 reviews and looks like they are pretty well liked.
Take a look:

Well, finally got out on my first ride this weekend. Its been a lousy week of snow and cold weather, but this Sunday was a beautiful day for a nice bike ride. So as the tradition goes here is the pic of my new ride.

Congrats on getting your new bikes. The Tassajara's are great. I think you'll enjoy the disk brakes. Mine are still breaking in as I only got my bike 10 days ago but awesome stopping power already.
I think most women like the men's frames now. I know I do.
Anyway, I think you'll both be happy with the Gary Fishers'. Let us know how you like them.
