Classic & Vintage - Peugeot Carbolite 103 information

hello, I recently bought a Peugeot Carbolite 103 from a garage sale. I'm trying to identify the bike, manufacture year, and also its possible value because I want to sell it. The sticker on the bottom reads UE81 60, then 2916472, and stamped on the bottom of the frame is the number 124.

It has metal fenders, a rack thats attached to the rear fender, and a headlight and tail light both molded to the fenders, with wires running from either to a generator on the rear wheel. The bike was supposedly purchased in France. Here is a link to some pictures I just took:

Could anyone help me determine the estimated value of this bike based on the information and pictures? I know nothing about this bike, I am a casual bicyclist and this bike is a bit too nice to take into town.

Carbolite refers to the tubing the bike was made of rather than the model number. I think this was a U0-8 which is a low end model but a pretty decent bike all the same. That's a very nice example. I sold a pretty tatty looking single-speed U0-10 for $50 so it's worth more than that. I have to say I've never seen one that nice. Maybe $150?

it is pretty nice, i've ridden it several times without needing to adjust or fix anything. it was mostly garage kept by an older man who didn't ride it. i just saw one on ebay, its the same bike & color, but its a womans model, selling for around $200.00

Don't the Carbolite Peugeots take a nonstandard funky seat post with a handlebar stem-style internal expansion nut?

UE81 = model (UO for U.S. version, sans mudguards and lights; UE for Euro version)

hello, I recently bought a Peugeot Carbolite 103 from a garage sale.

I picked up a Peugeot in a garage sale with Carbolite 103 tubing in good shape, but not as nice as yours. Mine is a different model (TIG welded), different color (dark blue), different saddle. I believe mine is an '84 but could be off a year or two either way.

Does anyone know if the Carbolite 103 tubing was used over a lot of years?

Yeah, I know, but "lugless" Carbolite 103 on a mid-1970s bike?

Note that this is a UE-81, perhaps a European model. I believe Peugeot changed the model number to UO-9 or UO-10 when they went cotterless. It is entirely possible that they continued to sell cottered cranks to the Euro market after switching to cotterless to please American tastes and to compete against the Japanese.

I just pulled my mothers Peugeot Womans Bicycle from storage.

Not sure how long it's been there... probably since my father died 16 years ago.

On the bike - I see a sticker that says "Carbolite 103".

Another (white) sticker near the pedals says "PH18" and "50" (on 1 line) and "5371971" on a second line.

There is also a "stamp" in the metal that sayts "Y61209522".

Bike is in perfect condition - except white seat and white handle grips show some usage or dirt - not sure - I cleaned the seat with Clorox and most the "dirt" came off - but still a little left.

Seat and grips can be replaced though.

This bike may have been purchased in the USA, Europe, Africa, or Asia - as my parents (and I) travelled for much of our lives... but likely, USA, or Europe.

Can anyone provide more information about this bike - ie: value, serial number, production year, country sold etc.

Thanks wes, that is the way the wife brought it home from a yard sale. I haven't even tuned it yet. The headlight is broken out of it. I am going to be searching for one when I get around to tuning and freshening it up.
