Hi Folks,
This will be unecessary advice & cautionary tale to most, but I got caught out on a ride yesterday when the cleat of my clipless pedal came loose. Needless to say I felt daft, and was very lucky to find the bolt and washer again on the road!
Luckily I found some other kind cyclists who were able to offer a multi tool with allen key to fix things. Cheers my friends
I will be checking tightness more regularly in the future, and am off to by a multi tool....
Cheers all,
Ed

I lost a cleat in the pedal during spinning class. It was nice to lose it there, than on the road, but my cleat was stuck in the pedal. Lucky for me, they had some tools to help get the cleat out. I damaged the threads a little.

I had the same thing happen, but caught it before the bolt came out of the cleat. I have since used LocTite blue on all of the cleat bolts and haven't had a problem.
Good Luck!

I have been there. Tried to unclip, shoe spun on loose cleat but foot stayed on pedal, ended as a heap on the floor much to the amusement of a rather fine goat.

Weird...I usually have a heck of a time undoing those cursed little bolts when I want to change cleats or clean them.

Good advice Ed. The other day after riding I was putting my gear back into the car when I noticed a screw and rectangle washer laying on the ground under the car. I picked them up so that I wouldn't run over them and then realized they were from my cleats!
As soon as I got home I tightened all of the screws and discovered that more than one were loose.
