i just got a redline monocog, and it's supposed to perform a variety of functions, including transporting groceries and dumpstered goods. the problem is that there are no eyelets...that should've been an issue, but for the price i couldn't really pass it up. anyway...what does everyone think about drilling a small hole in the middle of each of the track ends? they are big...big enough that it doesn't seem like it would significantly reduce their strength...i'm pretty sure of this, but i figure it's better to get some other opinions before i grab for power tools.

I dont see why it would be a problem. Measure twice, cut once.

Drilling it out, even if there's plenty of metal on the dropouts, is a much more involved job. I would recommend that you simply use P-clamps to clamp around the seatstays just above the dropouts, to hold the rack on.

Ok have you looked into "C" clamps. The bike industry has it limits in sizes for thes and it's what I first go for when puting a rack on. If you can't find them in your size. Try an auto store.

MY BEST suggestion? Buy a seatpost mount rack like a delta so you can carry panniers {saddle bags**. Cheap ones start generic wise $25.00us be sure to look for an slidding version like an In-Line. You should be able to get that from your Redline dealer you got the bike from. Seattle Bike Supply who sold them the Redline sales them also.
