Finally had my first run in with a truck. The guy didn't want to slow down until it was safe to pass as another car was in the oncoming lane, so he squeezed through. His side mirror hit my jacket. He was going about 40 mph at the time too.

I look at this being a little my fault as I gave him the room to go through. I will have to be more aggressive in taking more lane so they can't do that. I don't have much traffic at all to contend with, so the people here that have to deal with a lot of traffic and many close calls (so even being hit), I am impressed with your courage. Scared the crap out of me....

Yeah, definitely take the lane if it's not a WOL. Otherwise everyone will think they can "squeeze" through and you'll end up w/ hardly any space to maneuver if things go sideways. Glad you're ok.

You were lucky. Last night, an 18 wheeler killed a female cyclist in Bogota.
