OK rule time
Rule 1) I know more about this line than anyone else...when I say don't implement something until this financial quarter is done...don't f*$&@&@ do it!
Rule 2) Don't F&$# up the rotation....screwing up our priority queue WILL result in missed shipments....this product takes many manhours to get processed...
Rule 3) Please for the love of all the times I will not shove a spiked iron rod up your backside....DO NOT implement a process that is broken.
Rule 4) Don't be a ******....when I say something is shipping, it mean's it's shipping....do you need a new bettery for your hearing aid?
thank you....and yes, I am an angry gumball tiday.

Things like this make me soooooooooooooooooo glad I only have subordinates on site. I consider my subordinates my equals as people but I have the only business decision making authority. My bosses are hundreds of miles away. I see and/or talk to them two or three times a year.
 GOOOOOD. Humm... its lunch time... maybe a  lunch...

Lunch was bad....the roach coach pulled a no-show...I had a candy bar and a can of lemonade.
Really, this is the kind of day that makes me want to go to a bar, get loaded, and wake up the next morning with my arm trapped under some strange keg in my bed.
on the brightside, 90% chance of finally having a saturday off!

Blah work sucks. Let's all go live off the grid in a commune and live off the land. :)
Sorry about your work woes, catatonic. I have some too.

Only problem with going off the grid and living off the land is no broadband...or even http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d186/LuvlyLass/Smileys/36_2_39.gif dialup! This would mean no BF!

Nah, nothing like that....just today is one of those days that gives me those headaches that also make my eyes hurt.
Mostly it's just the pains of end of qurter crunch, and people are being too impatient, and mucking things up by implementing things on the 11th hour.
It's pretty much cleared up right now....I don't have a saturday anoymore though, since they want us here, just because thumb twiddlers makes the customer happy.
Mostly now it's just depressed instead of angry....

Funny thing is....I was thinking about starting a similar thread about my work situation right now.
We have two FQT (formal quality test) milestones for this project. One for card level (testing each card in box indudivdually) and another for full system test (integrated all cards).
There has been delays from other groups a million times before it even got to our end (software), and even now every time we turn around something is breaking in hardware (either one of the cards or a est station). This week we went through a detailed planning, and in our estimation with another head put on the project, assuming PERFECT situation (e.g. no more hardware problems) and even PLANNING overtime, we won't have these two FQTs until early January and late January for card-level FQT and system FQT.
We had an email from Program Manager this week that the expectation is to have the first FQT in Mid-November and 2nd by end of year. Remember the above plan was best case scenario and planning overtime.
We (the software team) just had to "request" that they bump our remaining vacation to next year so they can make us work through our vacation (some people are being forced to restructure airline tickets and such). Now they are talking about making us work through Christmas week that the entire company typically gets off.
God this sucks....I don't see realistically finishing this project until probably next March or so. I'm thinking it will be more or less forced overtime until then.

I finally have time to summarize:
1) we were short on parts, so we got a deviation allowing us to cannibalize parts from other in-stock units to make shipments
2) we were still short on parts so we made more deviations to bring RoHS parts in as non-RoHS (we had to do this since some engineers forgot to finish the paperwork on the RoHS versions)
3) then we had the customer play musical chairs with their build priority list, and then on Friday they expedited a crapton of orders, while cancelling others.
4) to make it worse, test development put out a new serial control system that screwd things up so severely, that I had to phyhsically hack their database to get the units to go through the process as they were required to.
5) and they had another new operator on one of the other lines I have to support...so I had to try to train this person while doing all of the above.
6) time limit for everything to be out was an hour ago. Fortunately, we somehow got everything done yesterday, so we did actually get today off :)
Oh, and monday is a pretty busy day too, but nowhere near as chaotic. I'm hoping I can actually get vacation approval soon....I need it!
