Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. It's only wrong to those who can't partake.

Hmmm....maybe after my lunch time ride today, I'll bring my bike back up to the office (ahem, I mean cubicle) and work on my bike and drink the beers leftover from movie night a couple weeks back.

Man, it's ok to drink beers at 10:00a, so long as you're wrenching on a bike.

if you have beer, time, and bike, it's wrong NOT to drink beer and work on bikes at 1 PM.

Yes, it is wrong as hell...you should be smoking a fat one, and leave the drinkin' for beer-thirty this evening....

I have a hard time not drinking beer while working on my bikes. Working on a bike without a beer is like working on a bike without any hex wrenches. I think I gonna make that my sig.

By 1:00 pm you should be switching over to Bourbon.

Well if you consume too much and work on a fixed gear, this might happen:

you're ok as long as you're not drinking before 8am. that's the alcoholic cut off.

It's wrong to talk about it while we're still stuck at work. Ass.

finally, a rule to go by! but when does "after hours" become "before 8"?

Space in South Beach doesn't close until 10AM....so, damn.

On the flip, why do cokeheads start binging at 5:00 in the morning? I don't get that. And those bastards never work on bikes.

ahh I forgot the other part, amendment 1 if you will, if you have been up since atleast 11:59:59 pm then all drinks before 8 am are ok.

amendment 2
if traversing state lines in a manner that would take you before 8am, you remain on the timezone that you woke up in. so if you go from eastern day light time at 8:30am, into central time which would be 7:30am, you may still drink.

i think that is wrong... you would need to go from west to east, and not all state lines match up with time zones. If this is the drinking law, **** better be bomb proof.

dustinlikewhat

I think you drink too much as your response makes no sense.

it DOES go from east to west.

state lines have nothing to do with it, only time zones.

Thats where I got state lines from.

My bad on that part, I thought I read it as you can drink after 8am (which is rather early in my book). sorry.

Eh, 1 out of 2, good enough.

ahh, I did put state lines in there, I meant time zones, thank you for pointing that out, I could have had some lawsuits on my hands...

So I was breaking the law when I woke up at like 4am, and decided that a few shots of Jameson and PBS were the perfect way to get back to sleep?

Oops.

good amendments; solid rule

explody pup
10-28-06, 03:32 PM
I dunno about the before 8:00 AM rule.

1. Early morning beer, pre-8AM or not, is a very good tool to shorten the hangover you earned from the night before. If you can get it down, that is.

2. Camping.

3. Coffee and Sherry.

goldfish
10-28-06, 04:15 PM
1. i personally find that a lot of caffeine, vitamins and water fix my hangover more than anything else (also advil...lots) but if beer works, then hey, whatever

2. come on now, everyone knows that when you are camping all rules are out the window!!

3. do what you gotta do

Pemdas
10-28-06, 04:43 PM

What if you're still a little drunk from the night before when you wake up? Do you have to wait, or can you just keep going?

goldfish
10-28-06, 10:38 PM
well, I wouldn't wait...i don't see what good waiting would do, you're already there, just gotta keep it going

Drinking at 1pm, by yourself none the less? You're an alcholic, seek out your local AA meeting

are you people implying beer isnt a tool?
when i work on anything (considering i've worked on cars profesionaly for 6 years now... i should add the "for myself" disclaimer) theres almost always beer around... cars, boats, bikes, buildings... etc... beer has a special place in my heart... and my toolbox!

Exactly. Rule number one if you don't want to be called an alchy, is to make sure someone is around so they can't say you are drinking by yourself. You can probably hire some grade school kid to watch you drink. That's what i would do.

Oh crap, I must be an alchi too, I mean last semester I think I drank beer at around 1 pm once or twice. I better go to AA.

Drinking alone at 1am makes you an alki, not 1pm.
