Being a relative newbie here, I finally have something that I wanted to post in FOO! :)

The Five Stages of a Project.

Stage One: Excitement - Euphoria

Stage Two: Disenchantment

Stage Three: Search for the Guilty

Stage Four: Punishment of the Innocent

Stage Five: Distinction for the Uninvolved

I don't recall who gave this to me. I do remember that I got it when I was starting to do some group work on some design projects in school. This still rings so true today.

Sounds like you can use the five levels of team building:

1. Forming - Getting together, learning about each other (backgrounds, skills, etc.)
2. Storming - Developing Ideas for carrying out project
3. Norming - The actual work part of the project
4. Performing - Project Delivery and/or Presentation
5. Adjourning - Breaking up the group and moving on to other projects.

I'm writing a proposal for a government grant to develop and commercialize a new technology. According to the RFP, the potential future success of my project (worth one million dollars in funding) will be evaluated based on the "5 stages of Commercialization"

Imagining
Incubating
Demonstrating
Market Entry
Growth and Sustainability

You can tell that some "business major" made this up.
It all sounds so good on paper, but no project based on a technology that doesn't exist yet ever really goes "according to plan"

Okay,
If we had less self control, meetings may turn out more like this.

1. Meeting
2. Choking
3. Stabbing
4. Shooting
5. Digging
6. Burying

I guess it's hard to beat the entertainment you get from spanking your monkey?
