LOL...funny how our perspectives differ m.e. All day I was saying...IT'S OCTOBER!!! IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THIS FU*KING HOT!!!!   :roflmao: :roflmao:

Did you see the horsie pics I took for you? When he/she(???) came over I thought of you and how much you would have enjoyed it.
:roflmao: Yes, but you and the rest looked so good all hot and sweaty (right? And that's all that matters...that you look good? Right? ;) ) Just imagine, your teeth could have been chattering all day had it been different weather!

And yes, Brandy!!! My bad, and I DID mean to post to those pics, but kept reading the thread (since I was in bed by 8:30 last night, still getting rid of the funk, and am so behind!). Thank you!! I LOVE the horsie pictures!!! Did you pet the horse? I'm never not going without my camera again and I'm going to talk Jim into taking me on that ride again so that I can see that horse that gave me some love so that I can take some pictures of him while I'm petting him. He'll be my "pet by proxy." :D

I really think that as a group (especially if we had someone willing to drive SAG), we could plan a better route...leaving out all of the suburban crapola. We'll have to do this one soon!

Ya know, I was thinking that is a good idea. If the riders each kick in $10 or so, the SAG can stock up with all the food/drink and pay for the gasoline. We end up with a better route (organized rides have limits placed upon them by the communities), better food (well, more specific to what we like), and scheduled to what works best for everybody.

Feeling better today? Are you going to get your ride in?

Oh, and one thing I did mean to post to you, Luwin. I know the ride was a bit of struggle and as far as the falls go (since you are okay) - don't even sweat it. Look at it like a battle story (again, your report was great). All of us have fallen. When I first started I did the "fall at the intersection in front of 25 riders" thing more than once, and don't kid yourself - I ride in my granny on almost every ride that involves climbing - and if I ever need to, I will walk my bike up a hill! (I just haven't had to yet since I do have a triple and a really good granny gear). You should just be proud of doing your first organized ride. Your next ride will be easier and less dramatic (which means you're going to have to tell a whole bunch of jokes throughout your ride report to top this one...;))

I slept in and had to call my Colavita buddy. I just couldn't drag my sorry a** out of bed. I'm sitting here in my PJs. Tells you, yet again - oh, shocker - how addicted I am to the BF Forum! I couldn't wait to log on and read this report and see the pics. :p I am going to try and ride this afternoon. I have to do something (that or the gym). I'll be back at it tomorrow and I can't wait for the Prelude next Saturday! But I have to admit, seeing all the pics from this metric ride (and reading the reports, even with the heat and traffic) has made me a drooling-need-to-get-on-my-bike fool! :D

I didn't pet the horsie. At that point I was a human salt lick and I thought he might enjoy me a little too much! :roflmao:

That would be awesome thomson and I'd have no problem pitching in money. I'd even love to drive SAG sometime for a ride! You're right though...with a cooler full of cold drinks and sandwiches (not pb&j) and goodies, we could plan some killer rides!

Yes, I'm coming back from the dead, I'm just weak today. All of this forced rest just means I'll be ready to hammer it out on the road next Saturday <ensert evil laugh>. You'd better get those legs up to game! (although, if you are mountain biking, you aren't doing too badly). :D

Great idea!! And although I had no problem wolfing down the PB&J sandwiches, the smells coming from the BBQ area with the smoke made me wish I could have sat down and enjoyed some ribs. ;)

In fact, I'll be going back there on Monday to pick some apples/pie, etc. - NOT on my bike this time. :D

oh boy im so sorry luwin but i laughed so so hard at this paragraph - you are so honest!!! cograts on getting to the finish!! i loved reading your report.

No need to apologize - I would have laughed if I saw myself tumbling and sliding ass-first down a hill. ;)

And as a result, the battle wounds on the bike - small scratches on the rear derailer/derailer hanger. And I was telling Paul - that is why as a beginner I'm not rolling on a $3k Orbea . . . beat up the entry level bike with the small embarassing stuff, and save the high dollar rigs for the more "spectacular" crashes :p

yep I'm sure... I tried... but the payback (hopefully) is that I'm staying up in JT til Sunday :D DH has a golf tournament and he'll be gone by 4am... can't bribe the babysitter into getting here that early

... but I know you will thank me later ;) ... so ... you're welcome! :p

You want to ride with women? You know, most of my riding is with women. You can join me and Cathy, Sarah, Debbie, Orrie, Caren, and the new girl, Carrie, any time you like. They don't all come on every ride, but we have some fun times out there.

Hey, John. You know I always want to ride with you guys as I've been on rides with you and you are correct, it is always fun (if not challenging!). My question is how to get you and those incredible women up to Solvang! That's next Saturday, in case you'd like to register...:D Otherwise, when are you riding next? I would have jumped on Crystal Lake (and cursed under my breath when my quads were burning) yesterday, but I just wasn't feeling good. Next time! Maybe you and the women will want to ride CL on December 17th?

Well, for those who haven't ridden with John, he is an excellent rider and fun company, as is Bob. I haven't ridden with them yet when I didn't enjoy myself. (okay, well there was that one CL ride in 95 degree weather where Bob got snapped at and that one 104 degree climb on AC that I turned around and headed back on, where Bob got snapped at...:o )

M.E., I ride every weekend and Cathy is usually there. Sadly, Sarah now has to work alternate Saturdays.
It's pretty tough to get us to drive out of town, especially if it means overnight. I think next weekend we will ride up Big Tujunga with the club. I've done so many organized rides I just got tired of the driving and motel stuff. I do love the Solvang area, have done the Solvang Century 9 times.
I will talk to them about Crystal Lake, that's easy because it's close.

You are a star Caligurl (and an insider I guess) ;) . How did you find the results? Man, I would have been around 10-th place if they had taken my time (my computer showed around 37 minutes). :p I was # 137. Well, hope next year they'll have it better organized.

lol, jimmy! no.... not an insider! but i did email asking for the times since they advertised it.... i wanted to see how their time compared with my edge's time (i hit a lap at both cars)....

ya.... it was a new thing... i don't think too many took it seriously... i saw a LOT of stopped riders on the hill after the first checkpoint... i knew i wouldn't be all that fast (although i didn't do to shabby of the people that did get posted!) i'm not a racer... (i'm a tortoise... not a hare!) i just sit, pedal, and go! steady.....
