darn dogs...
Im so attached to them, Id rather pick them for companie then anyone else at times.
Last night while driving, my little blonde dog Jersey got his paw stuck on something, he was crying and shaking, I stopped the car as if someone stopped breathing!
I had to sleep with him holding him tight making sure he was fine, my heart was broken...
I realised last night just how much I love those darn dogs.

Dogs are highly addictive companions!:D I know mine certainly was! Unfortunately, Jack the Dog died of old age 3 years ago and I just haven't had the heart for another dog yet!:(

I love my hairy weasel! Meet Cracker (or "Cracka" if you like Chef from South Park):

http://static.flickr.com/66/176564604_bb878e721e.jpg

That's my friend who also adores him (all my friends do!). The gf isn't thrilled - but her codependant cat doesn't like me either so I figure it's a wash.

I used to have an ig that I still miss dearly, he passed away a year ago. Really sweet, housebroken, and would sleep above me on a little perch I made for him. Love getting his eyes rubbed. Sigh...

I also absolutely LOVE dogs! We've had a few throughout the years and really miss them all (a beautiful loving black lab, a half wolf half German Sheperd, a little mutt that we found under a mailbox, and a short haired Geman Pointer that we had to put down when she went crazy) A friend of mine coined the phrase "Pet Tourettes" when you look at a pet and then get all excited :D

I like my pets better than I like most people, they dress better, they smell better and they behave better.:D I had a dog for years that was my constant companion, he outlived 3 GF's and a marriage:p He died of old age (20) about 4 years ago and has never been replaced. I do have a cat that we sort of inherited but she is a real sweetheart. Fits my current lifestyle better too. Only bad habit she really has is stomping on your face at 0600 in the morning when she wants attention. Doesn't do it all the time, just on the days you want to sleep in.

How much do I love my boys? I just can't put it in words.....I protect them like a mother hen. I have been told by many friends that I spoil them more than most people spoil their kids. The only thing they aren't allowed to do is sleep on the bed...but they have free reign anywhere else.

I've posted these about a dozen times already....but I never miss an oportunity to post them again. :D

I love my dogs dearly and we all tend to humanized them by the way we treat them to some degree. What I have learned working rescue and training different dogs is that most dogs, the least of these companion dogs need the structure they would typically find in a pack. When we dont give them clearly defined rules and structure they seem to oscillate between thinking they should be pack leaders and thinking they are beta. This is probably more true with working and herding types of dogs then companion dogs but its true for all. Since I developed some basic rules in how I interact with my dogs they are happier and better behaved. They do things on my terms and respect others who visit. Dont get me wrong, when my wife and kids are out of town I sleep with both of them but throughout the normal day they know that the humans are the pack leaders and feel secure in that. They respond to your emotion and your cues..

I dont want to come off preachy and everyone is going to have their own way. I just wanted to share my experience which has led to a better situation for all, especially the dogs.

- my wife loves our cat (a 90-yr-old diabetic w/kidney probs) so much that we bought a $400K assisted living facility for him...

- oh, and the $500 a month vet bills and twice-daily injections insure he will probably live to near the record for a cat: 39 years...

His first ride was when there was tons of pollen around. He got an eye infection. Can you believe they actuall make goggles for dog? "Doggles", All styles including old lady type with rhinestones and
matching sunglasses available for owners.
No I don't have matching sunglasses! :p

Didn't really look for the leather jacket with studs and the Prussian chopper helmet.

I lost two of my best buds a few years back. Got really low for a while until I convinced myself to find
a t least one replacement for Ginger ( chocolate Lab) and Daisy ( Doberman) We went everywhere together just about. They especially loved camping. Minnie ( who is not so mini) a rescued pound puppie Rottweiler loves the beach which is good as we are here in the Outer Banks now...
If only I could get her to bring the RIGHT spanner it would be golden....

I keep telling you...hire her a tutor for those number reading skills!:D

That way, when you ask for a 15 mm and she can't find it, at least she'll know to grab the 19/32 spanner!:D

I can't imagine not having pets in the house. We've always had cats, dogs, snakes, rats, lizards and/or toads. Here's Taz. He's my geocaching buddy. He's always up for a hike in the woods, (no matter what time of night).

I get up around 4am every week morning to workout or get ready for my morning commute. As soon as the alarm goes off he pops his little head out of the covers and starts nuzzling me to wake up. He gets up with me. And when it’s time for bed, my wife or I will say, “Go get your booper.” He’ll walk out of the bedroom, finds his stuffed bear, and bring it to bed with him.

We call it a booper because he used to hump the heck out of his previous animal before we had his “you-know-whats” snipped. And I would say, “Honey, he’s boopin’ all over the thing again!” Don’t ask me why I used the word - maybe because we have kids. Now he just sleeps with it.
