General Cycling Discussion - Handlebar Bar and Grill, Chicago, IL

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anyone been to the Handlebar Bar and Grill (http://www.handlebarchicago.com/menu.php)?

Most of my family is there so I'm definately going to make that a stopping point. Now I just have to figure out a safe way to bring my bike with me. I've become ultraparanoid about flying it lately. Ever since moving away, I've missed things like The LATE Ride. Every year, I intend to bring my bike with me and attend but something always seems to come up.

Thanks for that. I grew up cycling in Chicago, mostly on the North and Near-north Sides, but I haven't been back since my Dad died, almost 20 years ago. I've been planning a trip with my son (now 18) and our bikes, including some time showing him the city of my youth from the saddle. We'll definitely have to add this place to our itinerary.

chicago is an awesome cycling town. i pedaled the lakefront today from belmont to 63rd st and back. killer winds, mid 50's without the stiff winds, but there were plenty of riders and runners out there. we are a hearty lot.
You must have seen me on the bike path then. I pedalled from Oak Street to 63rd and back in those same killer winds. I couldn't believe how much time it took (as opposed to a less windy day, of course)! It was worse heading north.
Did you see the planes finally leaving Meigs Field also? I was cycling past as the last planes were taking off. Good riddance. Let's get a velodrome in there now!

I've been to the one in Denver. Have they franchised, or are they a seperate entity?

Here's the link to the one in Denver, CO: http://handlebarandgrill.com/htm/swag/menu_specials.htm
Been there, food is good, and pretty cool place!
I told them I worked in a Bike Shop, and wanted to buy some pint glasses, and they ended up giving me a bunch, Cool T-Shirts as well!

The names are different ("Handlebar and..." vs "Handlebar Bar and...").
It's like one of those puzzles: find the typo --
Now and then I
wonder whether we
we should buy a horse.
