Well, i have a couple comments about "hills". I went riding with purpose this weekend. I packed my tent sleeping bag and clothes and some personals and was off (total wieght= 48 lbs).
Day 1: Take It Easy (Yokosuka-Atsugi)
Left the first day rode, 18 Km and hit the beach for a couple hours then was off again. Did another 42km and set up camp.
Time: 4 Hours Distance: 60.2 Km
Day 2: Hakone (Atsugi-Shizouka)
The next day was brutal. Up at 5am and on the bike at 6. It started with a 40km ride to the base of Hakone, Japan. (if youve ever been there you will know) Its a mountain of about 900 meters, gorgeous area but a bikers hell. Its 15km of 10-18 degree grade with no flat spots. It was brutal, 3 hours to hit the top, but the backside was awsome, 15 Km downhill, hehe. Hit
75 KPH. Then to continue for another 70 km or so to Shizouka, where i camped for the night. Some really nice people offered me dinner and a place to sleep. I took them up on the dinner but opted for my tent. After showering and resting it was bed time.
Time: 12 Hours Distance 140.2 Km
Day 3: Going Home (Shizouka-Yokosuka)
Well, i slept in till 8 packed up camp and was off again. Time to head back home. I knew i had a full days ride to get home. So off i go back to brutal Hakone. Same story as the day before. Up Up Up....then a well needed ride to the bottom. On the way home i stopped by Kamakura (the beach) and drank a couple well deserved beers i thought. Met some more great people and had some good food. By now its dark so i decided to get back home before it got to late, a looong 18 km ride after the day. It is even hard to get my bike up to my 3rd story Apt. WOOOHOOO!!! Im home and beat. Fell asleep before shower, didnt care. Just wanted to sleep.
Time: 13 Hours Distance: 168 Km
TOTAL TIME: 29 Hours DISTANCE: 368.4 Km
AMOUNT OF LIQUIDS: a whole hell of alot
no cramps just sore and some saddle butt
overall a great trip
