Greetings everyone! Ive had no luck searching, so Im starting this post. What brand/model is everyone using? I would like something that I can upload maps on, since I will be using it for other reasons than biking. But I want something that wont break the first time I go down. Any info would be great. Thanks!

I have a Garmin eTrex Vista cx, ive only just got it though, and i havent used it on the trails yet.

From what ive read, Garmin/Magellan are pretty much the best.

Garmin Edge 305HR/CAD. I mainly use it on my road bike but also off road. I have had it for about 3 weeks and it crapped out on me yesterday. I have tried all the reset stuff but nothing. It wrorked great and gives great info. Hopefully it will be a quick exchange.

Good luck

I use my GPS on tours all the time. Whatever brand you buy, check out the hardware they supply or sell for mounting the unit on a bike. Magellans's works quite well for me though it is a tad bulky.

My current favorite, the Trimble R8 VRS rover, can provide subcentimeter level accuracy and is designed to withstand a 2M drop to concrete.

Pricing and size constraints may apply.

I don't have any need for GPS as I ride in the desert. No matter where you are in the desert, you can see the city. If you get lost, ride twoard the city.

Garmin 276c in the car; Garmin Quest on the bike. Beats stopping to read torn, smudged, sweaty maps.

I have a Magellan Meridian Gold that I have been using for a couple of years now. It really works great but you can get the newer models that have more features for less money nowadays. I use a Ram Mount to attach it to my handlebar - they are the best out there.

Cool, glad you like it.

I was a little nervous at first that the carbon fiber range pole might spontaneously explode if I measured more than a 2 foot drop, but it's still plumb after a year and a half.

Can you save tracks from this GPS onto a computer map? I want to be able to plot my courses on
Google Earth.
