You've got to join us on our next ride!

So far I've been pleased with the performance of these CygoLite DualCross 300's I purchased just a couple of weeks ago.

How much were those?

How much were those?

I ordered them from Performance. They were $180 less 20% web discount. I was looking for a good excuse to use that 20% coupon on anything that week. :D

Anyone interested in riding tonight again? AWiner and I will be riding around 6:30 and could wait around if people wanted to get ready after work.

Looking to do a ride in the SF valley some place between calabasas and say encino.

Come one come all....

A lot of it was pretty rideable in the dark if you just take it easy and have good balance-- you just have to be careful to see the road in some of the switchbacks.

Like bitingduck mentioned, one can almost not have any lights and still do this ride by staying behind a couple of riders. There's plenty of illumination.

Tks for the tip. Did you mount the battery or keep it in your jersey pocket?

I'll plan on joinning the next ride.

Great! I usually keep my battery pack in my seatbag and run the cable along the top tube. I've also strapped it on the top tube and on the extra bottle cage. They all seem to work well and secure.

Going up isnt so bad...since I am usually pretty slow...its that downhill on the otherside...I get nervous about the loose dirt and potholes..I will see if I can mount both lights on my road bike for next time...that at least gives me a slightly better chance to keep up than on my mtb...

It was a great ride. We discussed putting together another ride at the same place and making reservations at the Observatory as a big group of cyclists :D

We will need locks, but I can also call to see if they have a secure locker for the bikes, then get escorted around like a bunch of important people... in spandex.

awesome...clickity clackety through the halls of the observatory!!!

The new flooring looks like marble, but it is rubber. Maybe we won't slip on it.

However, if we do slip on the floor easily, I say we find the longest hallway and have sliding contests. :D

That's SWEET! I say that we plan to join the BikeBOOM group with as many people as possible! Serious support for Lars and Jen (see thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=241487)) to bring several groups together at once. Do you wanna post it on MySpace? HAHAHA

Thursday, Nov 16th, the ride up to the observatory is going to be awesome. I'm sure there is going to be a large group turnout. I live very close to the ride starting point. Mark your calendars folks! :D

Sounds incredible, but I like your thinking, Phil, and would you mind calling to see if they have lockers? I'd rather that than have my bike among a ton of others! I'm weird that way. :D

For this ride I might not even go inside the observatory for the tour.....I'll save the tour itself for another day. I plan on just enjoying the ride with the group and the views from the top.

Just to clarify, this ride isn't put on by BikeBoom. It looks like Midnight Ridazz are the actual organizers. Bikeboom is just the bicycles events calendar (to which anyone can submit an event).

Love to do that ride, but I'll be on my way to Tucson. My wife will be riding her first century the "Tour de Tucson" with Team in Training. What a great way to get the significant other involved in cycling.

I will definitely be up for the next nite ride again.

Good for her! Have fun in Tucson.

But remember, guys, we still have a night ride NEXT week to contend with. I'm going to start the thread here soon. I found out that only mods can post sticky threads, so I'll just have to keep posting a thread every week until one of them deems it a "sticky" subject.

I thought the way it works, is you start a thread and Cali puts it in her sticky thread. That way people have one place to look for all rides and Cali links all the detail threads off her summary thread.

Well, I was hoping to start a night ride thread separate from upcoming rides sticky thread since most of the rides listed in there are in daylight and many of them organized. The night ride thread would be just for night rides where I and other members could post their our in all of the various locals. What I really need is a calendar type thread which isn't offered on here. But a place to post the rides on an ongoing basis and people could rsvp so I'd know whether or not I have other participants.

In the meantime, I'm just going to keep posting threads every week stating that there is a ride with the details and people can say whether or not they are coming. Like I've been doing...:D

But that doesn't mean I don't want to do the observatory thing. :( Are we as a group still going to do that? Or is this mass ride going to count for that?

Are you talking about the same evening? Sure, I'd like to do this ride regardless, but at some point along the way we're bound to run into this crowd, most likely during the climb....:D

EDIT: I misread your reply. Yes, I think we should do the observatory thing (reservations and all) for another day.

Sigh. Do I have to do everything around here? Fine, I'll organize it for those who don't want to ride the mass ride. And to answer Extorty, the reason I don't want to ride with that group is that, although there are some very nice people, I have heard stories about the skill levels of some who join. I.e., some are not riders and do not know how to ride well (safely) in groups - couple that with the whole night riding element, and I just am too afraid to mingle.

Reservations look horribly complicated. They have free ones for people who ride or hike up, but you can only get them 48 hours in advance and they don't cover night hours. You can also get the pay ones and ride up yourself instead of taking the shuttle, which would make more sense, but they still seem to be a bit on the early side. You might try calling and being all nice and stuff and see how accomodating they might be.

Or perhaps we should wait for the dust to settle.....
Meanwhile, I'll most likely ride up on there on the 16th, but not with the big crowd.
