Nightride: Wednesday, November 1st: meet at the Pickwick Bowling Alley Parking lot on Riverside Drive, The address to the alley is: 1001 W Riverside Dr., Burbank, CA 91506-3212.
Just so you know, Pickwick is 2.2 miles from the entrance of GP (Zoo Drive) which will give those of us driving a bit of a warm up before we start climbing. If you are riding over and do not want to meet at Pickwick, please just be at the corner of Zoo Drive and Forest Lawn Drive (Travel Town) between 7:45 and 8:00 p.m. (call me on my cell phone to receive ETA if you'd like).

I'll go if you pick me up. I should mention I will be in Dallas if that matters.

So, does this mean you're a strong maybe? Oh...I guess that joke doesn't work since I'm sure not flying to Dallas! You'll just have to make the next one. :D

I'm open Wed night for a group ride!

sign me up. I'll try to be at the right place at the right time this time. Griffith Park again would be cool-- even if it's a repeat it's nice that there's so little traffic.

Great, guys. So for sure, Weds. at 7:30 p.m., meet at Pickwick. We can change up the route if we want, but I kind of liked the route the last time. It was even fun coming back on the bike trail and traffic on Los Feliz wasn't horrendous. But we can switch it up too.
I have Fixer, Bitingduck and me so far. Any other takers? :D

I might take it if my wife is ok with an early dinner. But for now just count me as a maybe. I usually do a 1 hour loop at 4:00. Should I be getting a light for this? So far, I just have a blinking taillight that needs a battery.

Hi UK, you would definitely need a light for this ride. I sold my extra one, so I don't have one to loan you. Someone else may, but I just posted this today and it's been sloooowww on here (a lot of people are out riding where I wish I had been!). We may get more takers, and one of them may have a light to loan you until you get one. I hope you can join. :D

I can't make it this week as I'm headed out to Chicago. If this becomes a regular event, I'll definitely make it when the ride is at Griffith Park. Pasadena and points east are a little far for me on a work night.

I'm definitely trying to get this to become a regular event. Of course, when we head into December, some participation may drop off. But I ride year round, so when I'm in town and can do it (couldn't this past week due to illness), I'll be jonesing to ride. :D
i might be able to make it depending on my class schedule and traffic...http://forums.maxima.org/images/smilies/ne_nau.gif
wait, this a road ride right?

Yes, it is a road ride up into a canyon with very little traffic (so you need a good light). But you are more than welcome to join. It's a nice ride!

m.e. what would be very cool for a night December ride is some Candy Cane Lane. There is one in Woodland Hills that is pretty good (well, it used to be anyway, I haven't been since there really was a manger)

I had to edit my post to put in the missing word but you 'quoted' me too quickly. Perhaps I should learn to read first and then hit Submit

I am the idea man. We need an implementer. Oh, I know, YOU
I can't get bogged in the implementation details, I may not have any more good ideas, ever.

Put me down as a maybe...havent touched my bike since our last ride. This week I was on vacation but didnt have any time to ride my bike at all. I just got back from 5 days at Glamis, my whole body is sore from riding my ATV, and I came home with a lousy head cold to boot.

Either night is good for me. A different route would be fine as well, just to mix it up a bit.

Hi MDU. I'm glad you're recovering well. In your pictures you don't look at all injured or weak. I can't wait to see the after shots if those were your before...;) Don't worry, it will be too cold for any clothing other than an arm warmer to be removed!

Mabe we can do the full loop this time and come back down the canyon in lieu of the bike path. I'll let you guys decide.

how about doing a loop that includes vista del valle, it'll be after Halloween but maybe we'll still see some scary monsters or ghosts lurking on that route

You'll have to lead the way as I don't know where vista del valle is...???:o (is that the back side of the canyon?)

Is that the route where you hop the gate just south of the Greek Theater and takes you back up to the top of garbage hill? If so I used to get on that quiet stretch of road every time I needed to take a desparate potty break.

...note to self...avoid wet spots or steaming rocks on the side of that road :p

A good deal of it is climbing, but I'd say about 15 miles?? And, yes, the beer adds a little fun time.

Would like to do the ride with you guys if I can. Right now have a crackling cough, runny nose, also feeling tired but no fever. Arms, legs, and upper back are sore and stiff from 5 days of ATV duneing at Glamis. Didnt help having Coors light with almost every meal (e.g. cup o noodles, BBQ tri tip sandwiches, chips, cookies, etc.) also staying up to 2-3am by the campfire kicking it with my friends, drinking more brewed beverages. Gained back a few pounds on the gut as further punishment, oh well.
Anyways 50/50 maybe, will see how I feel after work tomorrow night (I called in sick today.)
I am torn on this ride.... it is a lot of fun, but I might still be lazy
If I am going to show up, I'll call someone or be on time. Therefore, don't wait.
merider1
10-30-06, 09:04 PM
Well, I guess sickness and laziness are good excuses, gentlemen... Actually, Sal, not to mother you, but unless you're 100 percent by Wednesday, I'd skip it. The funk is everywhere and it can last for over a week or two if you aren't careful. Phil, if laziness is coupled with drinking, enjoy while you can.
Bitingduck, yes at Pickwick at 7:30pm. Last one there buys the post-ride beers. :D
wheres the exact meeting spot?
