Hello all,

I am a 30-year old runner of sorts. I've been running for a few years and have decided to get back into cycling. I have an old Cannondale MTB that I've owned since 1994 and a 2004 Jamis MTB that the wife rides. The bikes had been in storage for a while, but we recently pulled em out, cleaned em up, and hit the road. We pull the baby along in a trailer, so cycling is the new fun family event... We are averiging about 25 miles a week at a pace of about 13.5 MPH. I am also sourcing/building a road bike which should be completed shortly. As of today I am only missing the saddle, which I intend to purchase this week.

At 6'5" and 220lbs, I wont be winning any races, but it seems that cycling might be a welcomed break from running and maybe just what I need to get to the next level of fitness. Hopefully I'll make some new friends/riding buddies and I stick with it for a while.

Thanks for reading and wish me luck...

Welcome Stylo. Cycling's a good way to cross train. You already have the cardio fitness from running so now you just need to work on the cycling muscles in your legs.

Thanks for the welcome... I rode a quick 6 miles the other day, then attempted to run. Ha, who knew it could be soo hard? I was only able to run 1.5 miles. My legs were sore as heck.

Thanks again.

You'll get used to it real quick, especially since you don't have to worry about winter.

Welcome Stylo!

I was down visiting your area a couple of months ago and loved it.

I stayed at a friend's condo in Jupiter and cycled from Marcinski to A1A over to Jupiter Island and the scenery was breathtaking (I am from CT). It was love at first sight, although I would miss the climbing avaiable here in the North East if I ever moved down there.

Best of luck to you, your wife, and the young 'uns.

You failed to mention the Bianchi deal of a lifetime you have sitting there begging for road action!! Get on it and start riding. Remember the guatemalan in all of us man and free your chains...................

PS: if there is enough interest, we may disclose the references above...........

Talk about resurecting an old thread...

Yes, there is a partially built Bianchi sitting in my room, but alas,, she will never see the road as I have bought into the Pedal Force group buy and will be building that baby up soon.

Pictures to come
