Southern California - can't stop staring

i can't stop staring at this. it will be months before i can save enough for it-and i have never even tried one-but it has my name on it for goodness sake. it will be mine-oh yess-it will be mine.

i also thought i would ask what you guys think of felt bikes in general. i've been reading a lot about them and they seem to be a good company-i know jeff has one; how do you like it? i hope this thread doesn't annoy people. it is a pretty sorry excuse to start a thread-but what can i say-i'm obsessed with this bike. please don't hate me.

The Z90 is basically the F90 like I have. Great bike, the only prob I ever had with it in 2 years was the brake pad falling off on top of Palomar yesturday. But it wasn't the stock brake pad, I burned those LONG ago. I paid $550 for it brand new and prolly the best investment I made for the money. I used SPD MTB pedal so I don't have to change shoes and spend more money, havn't looked back since. The ONLY reason I'd buy another roadie is to drop weight. This one is 22lbs which is good, but kinda sucks when my MTB is few lbs lighter:D Maybe when I reach my target goal of 180, I'll treat myself w/ a new bike, but I'm stuck at 200-205 so its gonna take a while.

My co-worker got the higher end FELT w/ carbon seat stays, NICE bike for the money. My next roadie will prolly be a Felt. I love the way they feel and rail the turns at the high speeds too. If you get that bike, flip the stem, so you can climb better and helps your aero a bit. It will take a few rides to get your shoulders and neck muscles uses to the position.

The local shop that i go to sells Felts. The owner said that they are one of the best bikes for the money.

The designer lives very near me. My LBS sells them and says they are a great value as well.

Sorry for the hijack but I really wanted to get this off of my chest. First off, I love BF. I think it is a great site with awesome members. When SoCal got there own "forum" I said to myself "self....this is not a great idea" It is threads like this that made me say that. This is a subject that all members of BF may find interesting. It has nothing to do with Socal persay and everything to do with cycling in general. Why not post non geographical threads in the regular Road Cycling forum so everyone will see it and partake?

A cycling thread! :eek: Just kidding. :p That said, I totally agree with garysol1. Why not post this in Road Cycling? You'll get a lot more feedback there.

That said, I don't own a Felt, but I hear good things about them, and they sure do look sexy. I understand that Terry Morse's bicycle tour company uses Felts for rentals for their guests who choose not to bring along their own bikes, and their guests are extremely pleased with the bikes.

jsigone, 22 pounds is a perfectly respectable bike weight, especially for a larger bike. My other carbon roadie--the one I gave my dad--weighed 20-21 pounds, and I'm quite a bit smaller than you. My Specialized Allez weighs more than 22 pounds, and that's before taking into account the U-lock and lights I have mounted on that thing.

yah it's a size 58, weighs 22.1lbs naked w/o bottles or the saddle bag. I guess its not TOOO bad, but then I prolly have a 3lbs saddle bag full of tubes, food and keys. So that doesn't help much. On the roadie, I kinda rather have it on the bike then my back. Some rather have it on their backs too. When I ride the MTB, everything goes in my 50oz cambelbak, nothing on the bike, not even a bottle. I got tired of losing $5 bottles on the trails:o But I don't ride the MTB w/ tubes either so thats less to carry. In the past 4 yrs of riding MTB, I've had 3 flats. 2 were in Races, so I tend to carry more on races just in case

y'know i've been meaning to tell you i am getting a feel for that bruiser. i put some hybrid-y tires on it so i could ride it around the neighborhood and am figuring out that you just gotta get up outta the saddle and push if you wanna climb with it.

glad you're enjoying the new rig. Here's a link to get a longer seat post, I think the diameter you need is 30.9. It should be marked on the seatpost on there just to make sure. Get something 400mm long so you can adjust it all you want. Maybe something with a mild offset.

This shop is up in Oregon, so the parts take 2 days to get there.....but take another 2 days to process the order. They have have ALOT of parts and good prices, so I tend to use them if I can't find parts I need local.

Yes, FELT is an excellent company and I know several of the folks there because a lot of them used to work for GT (as did I for 15 years). I'm still riding my Ti GT but when its time for a new bike, it will most likely be a FELT.

Several riders in our (non) club OCRR ride FELT bikes, including Link who is very fast at 77 years young, and Destructive Eric who got his nick-name by what he did to his prev. ride, but has had no problems with his FELT.

all my grandpa's bikes had down tube shifters so i'm used to it. i had a classic schwinn of his for about a month before it was stolen out of the garage. bikes live in the house now.

about the univega-i can't complain-the price was sweet and it rides nice. i just got back from dropping it off for a tuneup and new tires/tape. the silly thing is that i'm spending more than twice its price to get it serviced. i don't want to have anything take a crap in the middle of the 60+ mile ride i'm doing on saturday though, so i figure its worth it.

i put those spd pedals you gave me on it and i love them i'm really getting used to them. its true what people say-hills seem to get a lot smaller.

well-i'm off to use the sport chalet gift card my wife gave me for my birthday to get some tights. later.

you'll learn to do your own tune ups soon. It will help save some money while learning to work on them as well.

I'm in the same boat as the OP... There's this one bike i've been itching to get for a while and now there's a killer deal for it on EBay... I keep checking the page for bids plenty of times a day and staring at the pics. :lol:

This week i collected my q920 from my local bike shop managed to get some limited edition white shimano spd pedals to go on it aswell and it looks awesome rides awesome and had quite a few coments from people too

I recently purchased the felt z85 about a month ago... 700 miles later I cannot complain! I like the ability to ride a relaxed geometry that I can make zippier with a few turns of a multitool, but still feel comfortable while riding. My gf just got the zw100 with a few upgrades, and she loves it as well! Try out some other bikes while you're looking, but I'd have to recommend felt! Check out Coates Cyclery in pomona... great people there and they are a felt dealer as well
