General Cycling Discussion - Time Change

Is anyone else looking forward to the time change? It's going to enable me to get in some serious miles during the week. All winter I've only been able to ride at lunch (max 15 miles a day) during the week. With the time change, I'll have time to actually eat lunch for a change.

My plan is to get in three or four 25 mile rides in the evenings. Then I can do my group rides on the weekends and the occasional century. My weekly miles should go from 140 to 175-200.

On another note, Friday my cycling career will be six months old and I'll have nearly 3500 miles since Oct 4!!! I keep telling my wife that I'm wearing out my bike and will soon have to get a new one. She's not going for it though.

Yeah I've tried that same thing with my wife.. tellign her my old as the hills bike is wearign out... so far she is sorta buying it... now if I can just get her to contribute a bit more to the "Jeff needs a new bike fund" then we'd be all good.. so far I have about $500 saved, and figure I'll need about $1500 or so, when the 03's go on clearance in the fall, or if I can find a good deal on a '02 Lemond Zurich... which is so what I want !

You Betcha! This is the first year in a long time it snuck up on me too. I'm usually chomping at the bit waiting for it. Pleasant Surprise!

When is the time change?

As usual I am in the minority (literally and figuratively), I would rather be hung by my toenails then lose one hour of sleep.

The time change is this Sunday morning.

I'm with you there, but I really enjoy getting that hour back in the fall.

Prosody-

I like that the time change in the spring means we're closer to summer and the days will get longer, but by the end of the summer, I'm hurtin' to get that hour back! I love the fall time change- I get to sleep in the extra hour, which is super cool!

Quite frankly, I don't know why we need that hour time change anyway.

I've been counting the days since winter started!

I grew up in New South Wales, where they had daylight saving, then I moved to Queensland, where it doesn't exist. My only comment is that sometimes being 35 years behind the rest of Australia isn't all bad. I hope we never bring it in! It's rubbish.

I totally like it, like some other postings on this, the time change enables me to ride 25-40 miles per night after work also!!:) I love it!! and look forward to it every year, kind of the official start of riding season for me and a lot of the people in my area also....I hope all of you people have a great season also!!

I just like getting up at 5am for my ride. So I get shafted for a little bit of time... until June when we get to the longest day of the year!

During the week, I like the change.
I can get in a longer ride before dark.
On the weekends when I like to be up
early for a ride its a pain for the first
month or so of daylight savings.
all in all I like it.
Except for one day, you really don't lose
an hour of sleep.
I used to work nights and hated the
change, seems I always ended up working
that extra hour!
