I have a mid 80's Trek 430 and the wheels still use the bolts to attach itself to the frame. How would I go about replacing those with skewers (aside from getting skewers themselves)?

Try "Problem Solvers" parts. You can buy them at any good LBS. I converted an old ACS hub to QR with one of their axles and a skewer. Try ebay also, lots of parts for sale there. Good luck
