I've been looking for a get around bike, and figured a road bike would suit my needs. But then I found the wonderfull world of cyclocross bikes which suit me even more, because I do enjoy riding singletrack and thought that would be a neat experience.

Anyways, at a local auction there is a Surley Crosscheck, no info just these pics.

It seems to be complete sans pedals, which I have. And it just appears the chain is off, i'm not worried on frame damage because it's 4130. What do you think I should bid, I cant see what others bid, just mine. I was thinking throwing $150 or so at it for sh!ts and kicks.

Thanks.

Surly is a good name in bikes. I think they are steel frames so a little heavy for racing. But excellent for around town.

I wonder if there are brakes in that bag?

Also, hope you know the frame size if you are bidding sight unseen. Otherwise, I'd say go for it!

Just a feeling, but that bike seems stolen to me...

A CrossCheck is a great do anything bike. I love mine and all I really do is casual riding and commuting.
But if I wanted to make it a fixie/single speed or tour or 'cross it I could.

And double kudos to you for correctly spelling advice.
