this last weekend me and some freinds participated in a "soap box derby" type event, all gravity powered vehicles with an emphasis on creativity, costume, and plain goofiness. i think the site is redbullsoapboxderby.com or you can google the whole thing to see photos. my team was the superman entry but i dont think there are pics of it on the site. i wish there were more events like this here in the midwest. guess if i want one im gonna have to do it myself! fast eddie outty

Here's the best collection I've seen yet - taken by one of the "Spocktoberfest" crew - but not the driver, who got beat up a bit on the first race:

I was part of the "Jack has left the Box" team - we were pitted real close to "Superman". You had a killer collection of boards there! Here's Superman for those who weren't there:

We're hoping to do more races in the future - hope to see you guys again!

I wish I had known.

I've even got a set of genuine steel soap box derby wheels and axles.

i went to this and thought it was pretty lame. I think they needed to choose a better spot for the race because the cars kept slowing down WAY too much. Watching people push their own cars to the finish line isnt my idea of fun. I think they race could have been much better, but for their first time, I give it a noble attempt.

im gonna keep some of those pics, i didnt get pics of all the cars so now my collection will be complete! my next event like that will be fat tire bike week in crested butte colorado, i just got emailed yesterday of the 2007 date, they have a chainless race that im building a bike for, good clean fun man! glad to see some others on this forum who attended and had a good time. our superman and his rider crashed at the bottom of the ramp, that ramp was insane, i couldnt beleive it when i saw it, some of the teams dropped out when they saw it. that is not a soap box derby ramp! fast eddie outty
