OK am I the only one who does this? Don't want to be home tonight to deal with all the little halloweeners. Yes the costumes are cute. Yes I know Halloween is suppose to be fun but for this old lady, well it's annoying.
Anyone else feel the same way? If so...
Meet you at Edwards Irvine Marketplace - going to see The Prestige at 3:50 and what ever I can sneek into later. Hopefully there won't be any little kids running around or jammering in the theater!!!
Bah Humbug I say! :(

I'll be passing out LOTS AND LOTS of candy. I put up all the cool decorations around the apartment saturday afternoon. I have about $40 worth of snikers, twix, and other yummy chocolates goodies to give out.

Like I mentioned in another thread, I live near the top of a very steep hill so we rarely see any trick-or-treaters on our street.....which is a good thing for us as well...:D

Well...my biggest problem has always been the 16-, 17-, and 18-year olds trying to pass themselves off.

I live on a hilltop and the little buggers don't seem motivated enough by a few candy bars to make the hike uphill. Lucky me!

I just moved into an apartment and am wondering if we'll get many visitors or if I'll get fat BEFORE Thanksgiving. I've been in costume all day already, though, since I work at a middle school. You can tell the veteran teachers, they don't dress up. Young forever!!!
Our house borders a commercial zone. I buy candy every year but we've never had a trick or treater.
The candy tastes good though.

geez! your street must be popular!

I've got about 2 cu ft (~60 lbs of sugar) of candy, crayons, slinky's, etc. My wife, daughters, and I will be giving the stuff away in heaping handfulls to every ghost, goblin, princess, pirate, and parent that shows up at our door. That is up until 9:00 PM, when the girls go to bed and the lights go out.
I live in a gated apartment community with lots of kids. I leave the lights on and always have a big bowl of candy, but no one ever knocks.
Tonight I am going to turn on some creepy, dark, gothic music and put in the original silent vampire movie, 'Nosferatu'.

It's our first year in this apartment complex. More then 1/2 of the complex has halloween lights, multiple pumpkins and other decor so I would ASSUME they get alot of foot traffic. But I also bought the better stuff, cuz if there's left overs....I know who has to eat it. We pulled the candy bagS out last night to get everything ready so I can just go home and be set. we had two full bags stuffed w/ those fun packs. Think I counted something like 16 bags of chocolate:eek:

My house is actually haunted (I was describing it to someone once and she asked "do you live on the haunted hill?") and on a steep street without sidewalks or streetlights. It would actually be great for a halloween party, but I'm too lazy and antisocial to ever bother. There aren't many kids in the neighborhood either, or enough houses within a short walk to make it good for trick or treating.
Where I grew up was flat with standard city blocks with lots of houses close together and you could cover a lot of distance and get tons of candy. The best was going trick or treating with a kid who was allergic to chocolate...

I actually live in a neighborhood that goes all out for Halloween. The homes nearby are totally decorated. Usually lots of kids roaming around... OK fine you all sit home and give out candy. I'll tell you about the movie later!

I'm giving up on halloween. A few years ago, we bought a barrel size container of candy (about 3 feet high). Had on e kid come to the dorr. Last few years, had maybe 10 kids and lots of left over candy. More of a bug now staying home for ten little kids....and 3 20 yo's without costumes!:D

one year in minneapolis we had about 10^9 kids come to the door- we had to go back to the store 3 times for more candy.

I totally agree with you Pam! Well, except that I have to work and can't get out to see a movie or anything.
Re: Halloween, Hey kids, we will turn the lights off for you, so don't bother knocking (and we don't have a door-bell)!
Best Regs,
Rick / OCRR
I don't mind giving candy away to the "kids", but when I get a bunch of [Edit: rude] teens I want to act out something from a horror movie with them, except for real.

You can get inspiration on what to do with the teens from the popular movies Se7en and Saw... just trying to help :D
I am leaving the lights on until about 8:30, then after that I am gonna open a bottle of wine pop a scary dvd in the player and relax.

That's nothing. I have 308 of them to contend with tomorrow. At least they all go away at 2:45 though.
We stay home and give out candy...and lots of it. We make it our annual tradition to order food in, and be at the mercy of the kids!:D I also have a tendency to get into this holiday....it is my birthday- so I have an excuse!;) Hope you enjoy your night Pam! Have fun.:p

And we don't eat ANY of the aforementioned candy. Not one M&M, not one Snickers. Neither Kit-Kats, nor Reeses. Nothing.

Normally I give out candy, but this year I'm hiding in the home office with all the lights out, as the wife and son are visiting family back east, so I'm alone this Halloween.

I just picked up some candy for the unlikely event that someone actually comes by. I'll take the leftovers and feed them to ME on the night ride.

In the last 7 years I think I've had a total of 3 kids come by.
I purchase the candy, chocolate only:D .
Then the next day take it all to work and dump it on them. I'll eat it all in a day if it stays!!
Where is that almond joy, I know there's one left here somewhere......

So I went and saw The Prestige. I recommend it. Very interesting movie. Great time to see a movie. The theater was empty and no screaming kids. Although the theater did smell like spoiled cabbage (I almost had to leave).
As I was leaving the theater I noticed Pat & Oscars next door gives a 20% discount if you have a movie ticket stud so I picked up my buddy Richard and we had dinner. Got done about 8 and now am home. I think it's safe to move about in the house now. My neighborhood was crawling with kids. Lots of spooky houses - My neighborhood is also one of those during Christmas everyone goes all out and you can't even drive to your own house cause everyone is cruising the street.
Anyway Halloween and now over. Hope everyone had a good time!

Not a single kid in sight. Even our parking garage was empty, the parents must drive their kids to places to trick-or-treat. Ah well, plenty of peanut butter cups for me!

We gave out a crapload of candy, too. In fact, a group just took the last dozen pieces or so. So we're done.
Not a single kid, so now all the skittles, tootsie pops, whoppers, twizlers, and milk duds are all mine!

we had NO trick-or-treater's last night.... so hubby has a whole bag of candy to eat!
at 8:30 the doorbell rang.... i grabbed the bag of candy... but it was just some idiot teenager who hid to the side of the door then "screamed" in my face as i opened the door and took off running and laughing.... hardy har har har har... another delinquent with no parental supervision....
speaking of delinquents.... our fence also got paintballed..... bright neon green.... as did many houses down the street.... where is the parental supervision these days? if i had done something like that as a kid... I'D be cleaning the fences and houses i paintballed among other like punishments! at least our fence was easy to clean off.... i feel for the ones who's houses and doors, etc got it!

I'm sorry CG... what a bummer about the neon green paintball... now your fence matches my bike! I definately have to wonder where the heck the parents are these days  I'd be horrified if my kids do that stuff
We only had 3 kids come by; the third (and last) kid got the whole bowl. His mom smiled at me and said sarcastically,"Thanks ALOT ". I smiled back, with the same look, and said "Have nice evening". Geez thats what I get for being nice.

If that ever happened to me, I'll be camping out on top of a tree over looking the house next year w/ my friends paintball gun that has adjustable air pressure. Normally you are suppose to run 200psi max so it don't welt as bad......he has his set to 300psi normal and if he gets pissed he'll bump it up even more. I'm glad I was on his team when he took me out by Lake Wolford.
