I'm sure this question has been asked alot in here, what sport supplements do any of you use for endurance when riding?
thx

long rides i bring food, gels and enegry drinks (only if its longer than an hour anything less just water).....if i do a really long ride then i either stop for a proper meal or bring something substantial).
for rides around 2-4hrs its somewhat of a preference.....what you eat.....i find the longer i ride the harder to eat solid foods so i like to have gels on hand to have towards the end....but at the beginning i like things like fig newtons or maybe a small sandwich....i'm not really a fan of energy bars...i find them a bit dry. but the most important thing to remember (and only your body can tell you when this is) is NOT to overeat.....that'll stop you as easily as bonking will....you need about 60cal per hour
I assume that you are wondering about things other than food and water. In my case, doing up to a triple century, the only thing other than food and water/sports drink that I take are some electrolyte capsules if it's very hot weather and I'm doing a 200 Km or longer ride.
Other than that, I save my money for the post-ride feast.
....you need about 60cal per hour
More like 250 cal/hr of carbohydrates for long rides.

sorry my bad....i meant to say 60 grams of carbs/hour.......and sorry i misread the OP.....aside from a sport drink like accelerade (or gatorade) for that matter sport supplements really aren't all that necessary on an actual ride, as for electrolytes, most sports drinks contain enough to cover any losses due to heavy sweating.
real food is always the best supplement on and off rides......however taking some supplements during training (ie protein, ) will improve your overall strength and endurance......the idea is to have your strength/endurance built up before the ride, and substain yourself during the ride with the things i mentioned in my first post.
