I was a f***ing cyclo-maniac for halloween!

Seriously...I just got back from seeing SawIII. It's kickass, go watch it, squeam, and imagine Tarantino crying himself to sleep tonight, because he is.

Back to teh subject, me converting to beast form....

OK, so I was going home, and I felt really good....as if I didn't have enough gearing on my Talus....so I'm blasting down teh streets spinning happily on 44-14, and feeling NO resistance on the pedals....I finally got it up to 44-11....bliss, total bliss.

Then, I had to play stop-n-go for all the halloween party drunkards...that's alright, I got to see some pretty hot looking women moving around. Laughed quietly as some woman with ridiculously high heels was stumbling about (think fetish heels....I swore the sole of her foot was vertical). Then Valhalla.....

SCENIC ROAD.....THE BRICKTRAP! This is a long all brick, and uneven at that, road. For some reason, I just had this urge bubble up inside of me...and before I knew it, I was spinning 44-11 on brick...the bike is slamming up and down, half the time I'm airborne...absolutely terrifed, and absolutely loving every second of it!

Sadly this was the fastest mile I have ever done, on any bike....I'm pretty sure I came close to 30mph if not broke it on that road....I never even saw the blocks go by....it was just me, and the chaotic rumbling of the bricks rattling as I flew over them.

I am an adrenaline junkie, and this is my manifesto. :D

(and yes, this moment is a "clean, as in PG" Bicycle smile :) )

edit: and my thighs are delightfully numb right now!

I walked around our neighborhood tonight in a very scary outfit, I was asking neighbors to vote Democratic!:D ;) If you could see all the GOP signs in my front yard, you would know why they all laughed at me.

The Tuesday Night Urban Assault (http://www.tnua.net/) ride met as usual last night. Across the street from the meet-up point, there were dueling haunted houses. Leaving the meet-up, we do a few laps around a traffic circle to warm-up before setting out on the ride proper. Trick-or-treaters cheered us on like it was Le Tour or something.

Two riders showed-up in costume. One was in the worst drag I've ever seen. Did you know that a floral-print blouse over a Camelback makes a convincing dowager's hump?

The other had a white lab coat over his lycra. It was stenciled "Medical Examiner" and he'd built a little coffin on his Bob trailer.

And what's Halloween without tooling around the cemetary? (Especially if you have a coffin on a trailer?) Two dozen riders (and one coffin), headlights ablaze with an entire disco's worth of blinkies descended on the city's oldest cemetary for some intervals, stop-and-go drills and some climbing up through the hills. It was actually quite nice.

We came upon the city's ghost story thing. Hundreds of those lantern things made of candles in paper bags. It was really quite beautiful. We kept our distance not wanting to break the storyteller's mood, althought I really wanted to ride through.
