Hello all,

I have the opportunity to purchase a used version of one of these. I have been searching the forums for info on recumbents as I have never owned one. In various threads there was discussion regarding the lower end versions of these models, and it seemed there were problems. It was also mentioned that the USX model was better and perhaps did not share the same problems. But the threads seemed to end there. Can anyone share their experiences with the USX models? Are they better, more reliable, what are their issues, comments...? I would really appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance!

If you haven't already done so I would ask this question in the trike forum at BROL:

Well I had one, I broke the frame two times. I did about 4000 miles on it. I wouldn't go for SUN, they make crappy bikes. Well, just remember you get what you pay for.
Good Luck

Its a very havey trike and its very slow, you better have strong knees.

Can I assume from your handle that you're too heavy and unstable for a different recumbent trike? If so, it may be a decent fit for you. I've known several riders who get by just fine on theirs. So long as you're not looking for any speed whatsoever, it's a nice cheap bike.

But I'd still look at something else if you're looking for fun. You need a truck to haul it around and it is HEAVY.

Yes I am a big fellow (for now). I originally started looking for a regular recumbent, and then this trike offer came up. I wanted to find out if the upper level USX trike was a better quality machine than the lower levels. If the overall frame quality is questionable, I will back away. I would't want to spend a pile of cash and then find it wasn't for me. Thanks for your responses.

Try the Sun Tadpole, I used to own one and it was a blast to ride, now I'm kicking myself in the ass for selling it. I think the weight limit on the tadpole is 350 pounds and it would be alot faster than the USX. Good luck to ya
