The insurance adjuster handling my case involving the truck that ran me over asked me for the replacement value of the bike. Problem is, it was built from the frame up, and I traded some fixed gear parts for some of the more expensive components. I need to fax her a list of the components, but I'm not sure of the value, and the shop that built it is too busy to help me right now (It's owned/run by the mechanic, so he's always elbows up in grease.)

Here's what was on the bike. If I can get the best price (highest value)for everything, it would be appreciated. I want to be honest.

On-One Gimp frame-
Mavic Rims-
Shimano Disc hubs-
Avid Disc Brakes-
Carbon Seatpost-
Carbon Handlebar-
FSA Headset-
Jump Seat-
DH Tyres-
Tubes-
Yeti Grips-
RaceFace Cranks-
Chain-
Rear Cog-
Solid Rear Axle-
BMX Pedals-
Cables-
WTB Aluminum Stem-

I don't have the wreck in front of me, and some of the parts were cannibalized from another bike that was in the shop...so I'm not sure of the name of the maker. Any help will be rewarded with pie. Thanks.

I would say anywhere between $1000 and $1700. But it is really tough becuase I don't know what kind of tubes you have.

But I do have some questions

Are you brakes Avid BB 5's or Juicy Carbon Sevens.

are your shimano hubs Deore or XTR

Did you have Nokon Cables or Generics

etc, etc etc....

Tough to come up with a value without specific component models

BB 5's and Deore Hubs--generic cables, I think. Can you give me an estimate? Thanks.

Serendipper,

Find the highest retail price online for each of the parts (for those that could be found). After that, check e-bay for the same for the remaining parts. If you need help with something specific from a list of 2-3 items, I'd be glad to help you research.

I was lucky when I did the estimate for my totalled bike because I work at a bike shop and have all the distributors' books in front of me to reference. Anything I didn't know or couldn't find, I looked for on the internet. That's probably your best bet.

A lot of this stuff I couldn't find on the 'net. Someone suggested takingg my list to a bike shop, and let them sort it out, with the promise that I will source parts from them. That's the direction I'm taking...thanks everyone. Beer & Pie for all!
