Okay, so lots of talk in the different threads about places you like to go after a ride, either fast food (grab what you can) or sit-down and chow. So, I thought I'd start a poll (out of curiosity). If you mark "other" in the poll, please tell your favorite spot. This can be a place you love after a particular ride/route/organized ride or a good standby on any ride you do. Even after you vote, feel free to give names to all of your favorites, especially if they are family-owned joints or they serve excellent margaritas. :D

Hugo's in the valley. Usually the black bean quinoa burger. But everything there is good, if pricey.

I love that place too, but now since they opened Hugo's Tacos, I sometimes head there. I love their different salsas.

Speaking of... I had some amazing salsa at Senor Fred's recently. Very fresh, and the perfect combination of spicy with a hint of sweet (pineapple maybe?).

In the summer it's peach or babaco smoothies.

Senor Fred's is in my neighborhood and I wish they had been yummy, but my experience was not a good one. Perhaps they have improved. Casa Vega is a good spot but not for post-ride.

You're missing some really important places...

Like Del Taco or Rubio's Fish Tacos

and local hangouts like John's or The Hat... nothing like either a patty melt or a pastrami sandwich after a hard MTB ride!!!!

Yes, well, this would be the purpose of my thread, to be informed...:D But I was thinking the standard-by-the-freeway type places with the poll. Oops...just corrected this as I realized I hadn't voted.

Post-ride eats for me are generally Cuca's (Local, Redlands, burrito stand.), or Chipotle.

As you can see, Denny's, IHOP, Tommy's and Taco Bell aren't high on anyone's list.

Try it again this way...

Del Taco
In-N-Out
Carl's Jr.
Burger King
Jack In The Box
Other

and see what happens... OK In-N-Out will still win hands down so maybe conceed that and leave off In-N-Out maybe add Rubio's, McDonald's or Arby's

Eating fast food is a last resort for me. I prefer the smaller restaurants so that I can experience flavor and service (I like food to be served to me after a ride cause I'm lazy) and my current favorite is...

The sushi place across the street from my place, Mugen's. The chef is pretty funny and since I go there all the time I get good eats dropped off for me to try and the sake is always being poured!

I think we can all say home is the best place but then the second choice would be some kind of comfort food like french fries and burgers or tacos (including lengua). "After a ride" would be mid morning or noonish and my favorite sandwich place would be De Simone in Huntington Beach. On Edinger and Springdale in the same center as Home Expo and Smart and Final. Not a chain, every morning they roast their own turkeys.

Most of my rides end at home and I've got a hard time chowing down and negating the entire workout...but, I'm a Rubios man, through and through.

It's quite the faux pas to go to a nice place when you've got a century of sweat, snot, spit, salt, grit, grease, oil, Texas Toothpaste, eye goo, and other road miscellani all over you.

I'm surprised at all the fast food. The last thing I want after a ride is grease! I prefer steak and potatoes or pasta. And, of course, BEER!!!! The best place for all of this is home. However,

Good pasta can be had at Joe's Original Italian.
Good steak can be had at Mario's Place, but you've really got to earn that one, or Citrus City Grill, or The Sire if you're feeling naughty or don't want to shower.
Good BEER!!!! can be had at P.H. Woods.
Good Happy Hour can be had at El Torito or Spoons.

(These are all in or around the Riverside area).

In-N-Out is a favorite. The best place to gain back everything you lost on the ride (calories) or destroy everything you gained on the ride (fitness).

Otherwise busting out the waffle maker at home is also another excellent option. :D

After the organized centuries, usually In-N-Out is the most convenient.

But if my wife or I do a long ride locally, our favorites in Santa Clarita are 1) La Cocina - a local mexican restuarant, the burritos, enchiladas, tacos, etc. are actually full of the selected meat, no fill. Great hot sauces, and awesome margaritas. 2) BJ's. - Great brews and lots of delicious decisions on the menu. 3) Red Brick Pizza - a local rider owns this Red Brick and he always makes his special proportions and ingredients in what we consume.

If I was to do a ride in the Burbank area I would make a point to stop at Pecos Bill's Bar-B-Q! It's been there for forever and has out of this world beef and pork sandwiches. Anyone else in that area ever stop there to eat??? I'd stop there all the time if I didn't live 50 miles away.

Well, it depends on the ride. After your average weekday workout, or 2 - 4 hour group ride on the weekend, I generally eat something healthy at home.

However, after a particularly long or grueling ride (i.e. hilly century, 5 - 8 hr singletrack epic on the mtb), I feel I've earned the right to eat something that's probably horrible for me but tastes really frickin' good. In which case I don't feel bad about an In 'n Out burger (A rarity, 'cause there are no In 'n Outs within convenient riding distance from home.), or a biga** Chipotle burrito.

I train enough that I figure I can get away with the occasional splurge.

BJ's - Very good brews, unfortunetley the food is overpriced, overrated and over____.

I'm not sure about the need for grease after a hard ride either. I live right at about one mile from an In-&-Out and I've NEVER eaten [Edit] at that particular location, now don't get me wrong, I tend to eat like crap, but I just can't bring myself to eat at In-&-Out.

Just me personal preference mind you.

I'm not so worried about the nutritional content of fast food or the calories -- look I'm advocating tons and tons of BEER!!! Greasy stuff, e.g., fries and cheeseburgers, just makes me feel really nasty after a hard ride. Better to clean the liver with a Stone IPA or an Arrogant B@stard!

Sorry, I've eaten there MANY (a hundred times?) times and I love a good burger, but just don't like there stuff. My brother on the other hand LOVES there burgers and even wears there T-shirts, but he lives in Roseville, CA so he's SOL.:D

Ahh..so you've never eaten at the one that's 1 mile from your house. Gotcha.

I'd still take a Western Bacon Cheeseburger from Carls Jr. over an In-n-Out any day.

Burger King has the Italian Chicken Sandwich again...when that was originally taken off the menu, I wept. Same with the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl from Jack in the Box.

Sortof have a love/hate relationship with the In N Out burger. It's good, it's fresh but I hate the long waits, long lines etc. If I'm going for fast food I want fast food. And I do love the grilled burger from Carl's . My opinion Carl's makes the best big restaurant chain burger out there. I also love the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich Carl's makes (no sauce though).

And I hate to admit this, I love McDonald's Big and Tasty burger after a ride. I know, just horrible but love it!

And what no HAT fans out there? Talk about bad food to eat after a ride, but their pastrami is awesome!!!!!!

My pre-ride meal for the grand tour was pad thai. It's perfect combo. I ate the whole order too and didn't feel the least bit guilty. :D
