Road Cycling - Cycling on OLN

I was at Dukes in Toronto and saw a petition to get more cycling on OLN Canada (Giro, Tour, Vuelta). It's about time.

I'm also going to send an e-mail to OLN at www.facetheelements.com

Why don't we get the same events broadcast here in Canada as are broadcast in the US? They even get Paris-Nice.

It does sound like they won't be doing Vuelta and Giro stages live, but the Tour will go on as it has up to now. Hey, at least it's not Wide World of Sports doing a 15 minute recap of Lemond winning the Tour or something.

I watched OLN about 2 weeks ago. They had 1 1/2 hours coverage of Paris-Nice every day. The only day they did not show was the stage the day after Kivilev died.

It seems to me that they are covering a good amount of cycling this season. I am sure they will cover the Tour of Spain as well as others later in the year. :D

They even have a weekly cycling show. I saw most of it last Thursday, but fell asleep. Tough ride earlier in the day. :D

Great idea copa, but the form on OLN canada's website doesn't even work.

However, I agree that they should air the same stuff on OLN canada that they do in the US, but the people who work at OLNcanada are morons and don't seem to give a S*** about what anyone wants.

however, if yout get Telelatino, I discovered that they sometimes show cycling from RAI international. Last sunday, they showed Milan san remo! I didn't know about it and only caught the last bit. Check their website and the schedule, just in case they show some more cycling. I think it's http://www.tlntv.com/

Good luck with your petition, though, I hope something comes of it. Canadians are always getting screwed by lousy broadcasters. Say what you want about the USA, they have better tv.

We may have better Cycling coverage (debatable) but, there's no question who has better Hockey coverage :(. Hockey Night in Canada :(

I echo a lot of sentiments expressed on this thread.

I saw another petition directed at OLN at La Bicicleta in Toronto.

Hopefully enough people will sign it and with the Worlds in Hamilton this October, OLN will realize that it's a good time to expand coverage.

I am surprised no one mentioned Bicyle Journal. It's dated, but pleasant. I have Tivo grab it; looking forward to seeing a tour of Italy tonite.

Actually OLN canada did show some mountain bike races last year, NORBA. None were live, but it was still better than nothing.

However, except for that and the TDF, the rest of the year they suck.

I like hockey like any other canadian, but I wish the sports networks would get into the 20th century, at least. if they can show cheerleading, aerobics and dog shows, why can't they show cycling?
