i'll probably be the only one wearing a UCLA jersey on sunday, I'll keep an eye out for all of you... I'll also be wearing a olive greenish "GearMeOut" T-Shirt on Saturday at the fair grounds. hope to see you all there.

I swept the BP MS150! Swept part of it with a broom, that is; I was the crazy guy with a push broom before break point 7 on Saturday. It started when I was a human sign post for a while, after finding that someone driving a vehicle with a very aggressive off-road tread had plowed one of the signs right before an important turn. I heard the riders signaling and yelling out "gravel on the right." I called for help with the sign, and a broom; others repaired the sign, while I got to work with the broom. People kept telling me about more gravel, and I got to work on other bad patches of gravel. It was fun, and I enjoyed the company of the nicest people. Unfortunately, when I finally took a porta-can break, I missed seeing my friend Jeff, as that was when he passed by, I think. This was my first time volunteering at a bike ride; hope to do it again next year! :)

So did anyone see the chicken on the way to the campgrounds on day one, or at the finish?

That was my team.

YAHOOOOOO! that was a fun ride everyone! I didn't see any BF's written anywhere but I did meet some other nice folks... I averaged 18mph the first day and 17mph the second, I came in before 1:30 both days..for someone who averaged 15mph last MS and rolled into the finish after 3:30 I think I improved greatly, it felt amazing, thank to those who volunteered...

I didnt see the chicken, though one of my team's photographers got a good shot of him at the finish yesterday. She also got shots of the guy on the pink beach cruiserish bike and the guy who had to walk his damaged bike across the line. I couldnt see the damage from the photo, though. She said his front wheel was tacoed. Did anyone see the lady just past lunch on day 1 with the big caterpillar banner?

I saw the chicken, but no BF's. I guess next year we all need to wear a crazy halloween costume as a means of identification. :)

My ride results...

Day 1: 19.6 MPH, 99.6 miles, 5 hr 08 min
Day 2: 18.8 MPH, 75 miles, 3 hr 58 min

Top speed 41.7 MPH <-- on that one large hill before the parks, but I had to hit my brakes because of a sag vehicle in the left lane and slower riders in the right lane

What a great ride and great experience. I was amazed at the amount of cyclists on the route. I know 13,000 people is a lot of people, but seeing that many cyclists on the road was an incredible sight.

Day 2 I went through the parks. I have heard stories of that being dangerous and experienced it firsthand. On one of the steep hills a rider one cyclist ahead of me couldn't handle the grade and went down. Fortunately we were on the far left side of the road and he fell to the left side away from the other cyclists or it could have been a disaster. On a later uphill there was some team riding slowly taking up the entire roadway, about 6 cyclists wide, instead of riding to the right. All of us coming from behind had to apply brakes midway up a steep hill.

I am definitely going to do this ride again next year. Not only is it for a great cause, but it was a great route, and the support on this ride was fantastic.

Day 1, finished at 2:30.
Day 2, Finished at 12:30. Max speed 39.89, just before Bastrop.

My second day performace was too much of an improvement for my family. My wife was the only person at the finish this year.

At the start of day two, the border collie sticking his head out the window of the grey Mazda Tribute... that was my dog. My wife thinks that just about every person that did the State Park route that passed them commented of "doggie" or "cute dog" or "puppyyyy".

I'm disappointed that they didn't seem to get any good pictures in the park this year.

I looked up my number on Brightroom. Among the pix of me, Brightroom inlcuded a field, ballon, and a female crossing the finish line of a different event. Last year I had a couple of "special guest stars", but this year takes the cake.

And for the record I was civilized this year. So no that isn't me at the back of that field using the bathroom.

EDIT: HOw the heck could I miss a chicken costome?

Everyone got the field and the balloon.... I guess they are trying to sell their "artsy" pictures as well.

No good shot of me at the finish... We followed a SAG truck in,

Anyone know if there is a century option on the first day?

Da Tinker

Yes, sorta. Start from Tully Stadium and that makes the trip to La Grange 99 miles.

Do I get to choose where I start from?

You can start from anywhere you want. there are three official start locations. Full a full century ride (like it really matters) start a mile away from Tully and ride to the start. Pretty much anything above 95 miles is considered a century.
