I've been looking around for Nokian tires this season and two different vendors in town (Anchorage) have said their wholesalers have stopped being able to get them. Something about a company buying out Nokian and no longer wanting to make high end studded bike tires. Any truth to this?

News to me. Having said that, AEBIKE.COM used to have a very robust selection of Nokians and is a bit thin of late. Still have 'em, though.

Nokian was bought by Suomi over a year ago.
Looking at thier site, it looks like they are not offering the Extrene 294 or the Hakka 300 anymore. We better stock up!

I notice this site only list the offroad studded versions and not the commuting versions of thier studded tires.

I wonder who the marketing genius at Suomi Tires that thought that getting rid of the globally recognized Nokian branded internet site and separating the product offering into obscure URL's was the best way to market product?
Thanks diff_lock2 for clearing this up.

Really, the Hakkaaappppallletttaaa (you know, name nobody cam spell ;) ) are so recognisable just for that fact, never mind that they are known to make excellent winter tires.
I have a set for my car :D

Hakka (which sounds like somethin' you do when you choke) is a globally recognizable brand winter tire but www.gazzatyres.com ? This site doesn't show up on Google until the fifth page on a deliberate search "Nokian bicycle tires" It isn't on the map on a non-deliberate search "winter tire bicycle"
The only site that might appear is www.suomityres.fi Neither site contains thier complete tire offering.
They need help in thier Internet Strategy & SEO (Search Engine Optiminzation) campaign.
Darn shame I think if the Nokian or hakkapeliitta name was to go away....
