I would like to create a sticky thread for night rides in the So Cal region since these will be ongoing. How can I do this?

Until a blue star answers; you don't. If a moderator sees a need for a sticky, one will be created. If there is enough demand for a SoCal niteride sticky it will happen. I guess your best bet woudl be to organize and run a lot of good night rides, building demand.

Actually, there is a lot of demand and the riders who joined last night thought a sticky would offer not only me a chance to post a weekly nightride, but other riders as well. The sticky would allow this thread to be at the top of the So Cal region so that new members can see it. Otherwise, the groups that form may get to the point where they don't need to reference the thread and that would mean some could miss out.

As already mentioned, only mods can sticky a thread. I don't see much advantage to a stickied night ride thread, though. If enough night rides happen, you'll get lots of cross talk. Better to have them in separate threads. Or if you insist on one big thread, if it gets used enough, it will float near the top anyway.

If we stickied every thread that was "in the moment" every forum would be nuts. Stickied threads, traditionally, are for very useful information or topics that will explode (kind of ironic since topics that explode get bumped constantly)
All other forums put up different posts for the week of the ride, that seems like a good action as it keeps things current. Stickied tend to get buried with responses and become 27 pages at 50 posts per page pretty quickly.
