Well last sunday, it was very windy outside, like 40 or 50mph gusts. I tried going for a ride, but almost got blown off the road so I said screw it. Well, three trees in my yard took a tumble and ripped the lines off my house :(.
The TV and DVD player released the magic smoke, needless to say these are retired now. So that night, having no power, the power company came to repair the line. THey did a splice job, not replacing anything really. The guy tells us we should be good to go....
The main breaker is turned on, and we hear pops from upstairs. Several light bulbs burst inside, the microwave and dishwasher have smoke :(. Some various small appliances were shot too. *sigh* So we are with no power or internet for a few days until an electrician comes and replaces a breaker. Of course comcast takes their time in coming, I called them telling that the line was broken the day it happened and was told on the phone that my modem is hte problem. I called again, got the same response. Called a third time, success! A guy just came this morning. Loe and behold, my modem is A okay. We had 240v going through out outlets for a brief time  .
My moms computer wont turn on, though mine is okay. I take a peak inside hte power supply, the fuse is shot of course but the aluminum cap on the 200v electrolytic capacitor completely burst! There was that capacitor juice all inside the power supply. Luckily, that was the only problem.
Life without internet is hard :p
