I have never been able to ride switchbacks very well and seem to physic myself out when getting close to them. So any advice on how to ride them will be very helpful.

Ever do an endo on purpose? Practice this: Ride at a relatively slow pace (walking speed), ride with your body in a neutral position, maybe a bit back, and squeeze the front brake hard. As the rear wheel begins to lift off the ground, shift your weight back to where you can balance. Do this until you can be balanced on the front wheel for a few seconds. Then try swinging the rear wheel, as you lock up the front brake. You should get to the point where you can pivot 90 degrees on your front wheel. Practice till you can do this in either direction.
Now, as you approach the switchback, do this same manuever, and pivot around the turn. It's sweet when you nail it!
