Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Funny thing was the roads were clear that day (+12 Early January) just caught a bit of ice & wham-o healed up, but a nasty scar on the chin.
Yep the couriers are crazy to ride 23c tires & some with no brakes! Ha Ha
Not sure if there are any here i live a sheltered life in the west end! Can’t remember last time I was downtown.
I don't think I have ever seen a courier in Kingston either.
Yep, the snow I can handle, the ice is what gets me. Coming down a small hill and the front tire just went sideways on me, went down on my left side and slid for about 15 feet. Couple of bruises and got off lucky as I went from the curb out into the middle of the road I was lucky the closest car following was 3 blocks behind. Sometimes it pays off to start work early.

Ya snow N/P. right now it's the icey crust on the shoulder that’s the killer.
I think source sells Norco here?
I was in J & J last week he had a nice Scott H/T on the floor good price if i remember correctly.
Nice

I know, I have a hard time with need and want. Source does have Norco as well as Dougs in Belleville.
I remember Scott from years ago, never knew anyone who had one, I will check out JJ.
McCaluley in Picton is awesome for a "nearby" ride. I like my Norco bigfoot but looking for something faster and more responsive for ripping through the trees.

Theres aways Trek... hehe.. You could check out Cycle path in kingston. Even the lower end Trek models are pretty wel equiped. I have the 4300 and I love it so far. Only thing I changed was Put Disk Brake in the front. In the summer I plan on doing the back too. You can get the Disk version, but I like doing things the hard way for some reason...

Hey
Checked out a few shops, not much when I was in. Seems everyone is waiting for the new stuff.
You haven't been to McCauley? Its has some pretty good single track. Never to busy with bikes or hikers. Somedays you can have the place to yourself which I find pretty amazing as it is such a cool ride.
Hopefully we and others in the thread can hook up for a ride this spring.
I'll sell you my bike! great price too
there is at least one bicycle courier in k-town. My wife works at KGH and the odd time waiting to pick her up I've seen him
this is completely random.....but when I saw it, I wanted to post it somewhere

Are you getting or have gotten something new?
lol no offence taken. I wouldn't wish this bike on an enemy
I don't think I'll be getting a new bike anytime soon. Baby coming in 2 months

If I ever suggested me & the bike should get the tent OMG all out war!

Congrats! Don't forget your kid will need a bike so maybe if you handed your current bike down and got a new one you'll be set for when s/he is ready to ride. Just a thought.

Just throwing this out there. Doing some surfing and came across www.chicoracing.com (http://www.chicoracing.com) They organize races and I took an interest in the 8 hour ones (July 26 and Sept. 7)
I have never raced but thought it might be fun, I'll "giver" while I can but not going to be go team go competitive about it. Anyone interested in getting a team together or going solo but car pooling or if have had any experience with these events let me know. Thanks

I've never raced or wanted to. I know a couple of people who do & they seem to love it, especially the 24Hrs ones.
I'm lucky to get out on a Sunday morning ride!

I am for sure down for that. I was going to do a 24 hour race with My brother, but I think this is better for a first timer. I am not that fast, and need to quit smoking first, but then I am good to go... haha
Ya, For sure, I would really like to do this. If we could get a team of 4 it would be great. Come on Joe, you know you want to. I also think My brother will come.

Yeah I thought about 24 but 8 seems a little more sane/doable/fun for me at this time.
JJ cycle also has an 8 hour coming up Aug 16, they will post on their website soon. Local race is good as won't have to travel though do want to get to Hardwood hills this year.

Yup, this is the one. Nice set up with deore so I won't be changing anything until it wears out or breaks. Also has smarty pedals by crank bros. Have some wellgo now on the commuter so looking forward to trying these ones out.

The three things i changed right off were the pedals, brakes & grips. The bike came with platforms, V-brakes & crappy grips. So I put some time atac alum pedals, avid bb5 mech discs & oury grips. Still going strong got it in 04! (Giant NRS)I got some new grips for it on ebay last week.
Did you trade in your big foot?
My Neighbor got a Norco fluid & traded in his cyclecross bike @ source here in K-town.

NRS looks good. I tried a full suspension out in Jasper and couldn't believe the difference in the ride. Must be why you are still happy with it.
I kept the bigfoot as still like it for downhill and want a bike for friends/family to borrow when they come visit.
I went to source for sports last week. Heard they were doing an inventory and giving 20% off parts if anyone is looking for stuff.

Hi,I just joined this thread today and just wanted to say a few things about me. I have always enjoyed "biking",but never wanted to spend great amounts of money on my ride. I enjoy trail riding on my "cheap" SportTek HS6000 MTB and have really good luck with it! It cost under $200. My riding buddy(who also owns an HS6000) and I like to explore the many abandoned railway lines in the area as well as a quick tour through the trails in Collins Bay. We live in Amherstview, by the way, and there are plenty of trails near us.
As far as road bikes are concerned,I recently restored an old CCM Corsa 10-speed that now looks good and works beutiful! I'm not out to compete in the "Tour du France" but to go out and have a fun ride on a half decent bike. I love this bike partly because of it's age(not sure when it was produced yet) and that it takes me back to when I was a kid and 10-speeds were all the rage. I'm looking forward to taking a few hikes downtown and mabe for dinner some nice sumer evening.
Restoring old bikes can be fun. I just wish I could find more info on them.

Hello!
I go to school in boston, but it looks like I'll be spending my summer up in Kingston this year. How is the fixed gear following up there? I only ride fixed and I am looking for people who are interested in group rides and such.
Thanks
