Anyone know where I can find an image of the the "look" Lance gave Ulrich in the 2001 TdF?

Thanks,

Notice that it is the only picture on the page in which a rival rider is visible. Interesting.

I might go grab a copy of the pic myself - but then again - the image is burned into my mind so strongly I may not need to.:D

Classic. He should do it again this year to whomever is his nearest competition.

What do you think the look said?

Do you think it was, "Sorry, but this is where you lose the Tour de France."?

To my mind it was a very sarcastic, "I'm about to go on a bike ride. Wanna come?"

I think that Lance just wanted to determine the amount of suffering going on behind him. After a relatively long look, it was apparent that he could attack and drop Jan and the rest of the crew for good.

I have it on video from OLN. I've watched it many times. :D

That was the moment that the world of cycling changed hands.

how come he's not wearing a helmet in that pic? and neither is Jan? Do they go helmetless in the extra slow parts?

They tend to lose the helmets during mountain
stages, especially if there is a mountain top finish.

Its funny that LA played down "the Look" in the press,
saying it was just looking to read the rest of the
peloton, and to see who was answering his attack,
and yet he features it on his web site. . .

I think the look said "you got legs?"

I have seen the video of this particular scene a few times. What you don't see in all the photos is that right behind Ullrich is one of the USPS climber, I think it was Jose Luis Rubiera, but it might have been Victor Hugo Pena. It always looked to me as if Lance was looking past Ulrich at his teammate trying to guage whether he was going to be able to respond and maybe come up to pull a little more. Then sometime in the last year or so, Lance even said as much on one of the tour review shows. He acknowledged that he certainly may have glanced at Ullrich but was mainly checking on his teammate's status.
