How does one induce vomiting? I through up earlier in the day but still feel nauseous and hadn't eaten for 24 hours now. I do not wish to stick my finger in my mouth. Thank you.

Try to eat. You need water at least. You get dehydrated when throwing up. Sip 7-up slowly. Or Ginger ale. Nibble on Saltines. That will help the nausea.
Hope you feel better! :(
SBW uses the same tricks my parents (both physicians) used when I was sick. One extra strength Tylenol. Unrestricted access to 7-up or Sprite. (Ginger ale, Sierrra Mist, etc should be acceptable substitutes.) Likewise with saltines. Lots of sleep.

Ginger ale and saltines: The miracle cure.
800mg of Gleevec a day made me throw up with regularity. :)

Ah, it was methotrexate and cisplatinum that did it for me :)
Seriously, though, ginger is good for cutting through nausea. I find the stronger the ginger flavour the better.

Ipecac works wonders.
+1
Take some real ginger root, cut it into bits, boil it and drink it. Or just chew on it raw (I do - love the stuff!).
Ginger ale really doesn't have enough ginger to do anything - though the ginger beer by Jones is damn good!

I agree with the try to drink water, electrolytes. You need to stay hydrated. Syrup of Ipicac will induce vomiting. By the way, you can fell nausea, but you cannot feel nauseous. If you were nauseous, you would make people sick. Look up the word in a dictionary. Nauseous is one of the most misused words.

Really? I use the ginger root to make tea for when I've got a sore throat or just sick. Never made me throw up yet.

it's not to make you throw up, it's to settle the stomach!

borrow someone elses fingers, or use a tongue depressor.
if you haven't eaten for as long as you state chucking up probably isn't a good idea- all you will get up is bile and then you'll end up feeling nauseous with a burning throat to boot.
hope you feel better soon.

DON'T do what I tried once.
I was nauseous and just thought if I could make myself vomit I'd feel better. So I took some medicine that was supposed to induce vomiting.
Oooops.....did I tell you it was supposed to INHIBIT vomiting? I took the OPPOSITE of what I intended. Then I was miserable for that much longer. I was doing jumping jacks to try to get it to come up and still with no success.
If you really want to throw up go to a bar and do three cement mixer shots.

Yo KT, I think you were experiencing nausea. If you were nauseous, you would have been making other people sick.

Looks like the word is used both ways.

Unfortunately, it has been misused for so long that dictionary publishers, esp. those online, are now beginning to show it both ways. Find any real paper dictionary more than a few years old and you will see what I mean. It is still used incorrectly though, even it has become common.

Just pulled out my paper Webster (copyright 1989) and it has the same three definitions. It does say "informal" for the "ill or affected with nausea" def. though.

Smoke a joint and eliminate the nausea.

This (http://www.bartleby.com/61/32/N0033200.html) somewhat supports my stance on the word. Our language only grows by common usage, so I know I am fighting a losing battle, but this word is one of my pet peeves.:D

I'm just harassing ya because I love doing it!!! In all honest, I have a lot of pet peeves when it comes to words and language too, but mine tend to revolve more around pronunciation.
Ya know KT, it's not really that impordant. :D

It's all good KT. Never felt harassed, and I speak worse than I spell.:D

Did some one eat too much halloween candy?
Ah, it was methotrexate and cisplatinum that did it for me :)

yeah, try ginger beer (it's not alcoholic) as the ginger beers I have seen are made with plenty of real ginger.
You can also try fresh ginger tea: take about 1/2 inch of ginger root and slice it crosswise into thin pieces. Place in a cup and them pour boiling water over it and let steep 5-10 minutes. Sip carefully, starting with a little at a time. You may sweeten with a little honey or sugar if you need it.
