I should have asked you b/4 as I've been wondering about this for a while. Have you ever heard or know of anyone who owns or has tried the byco bicycle stereo ? They are not too expensive but, I'd rather not throw away 60.00 + shipping and handling if they are pure junk. Give me some wisdom, bro. http://www.bicyclestereo.com/parts.html

Not a clue. I have sent off a note to the Tandem@Hobbes list to see if anyone of the subscribers there may have some first hand dealer or consumer experience with the product. I'll pass along anything that comes back.
FWIW: I've seen one or two tandems over the years with small tape players and FM receivers hung under the stoker's handlebars pumping out tunes, but it's a rare sight.
Ok, thanks Mark. I thought it might be a good giftie for the wife as we live near a very nice place to ride after work but, I'm sure it gets boring back there looking at the same thing during training rides everday.
From Joel:
I tried one. The speakers were very small and sounded very tinny. Other than that it seemed to work well.
From Mike R.
"I don't have first had experience, but a friend of mine from Minnesota has one and really enjoys it. He rides a bent and comes down for BRAG most every year; several times I've ridden alongside him and could hear the radio just fine. It's not "hi-fidelity" but definitely acceptable. I've been tempted to buy one myself several times. It seems to take a fair amount of abuse. YMMV
The first year he only had the radio, he quickly determined you needed the CD player for long trips since the radio can get spotty and boring after a while."
