OK, I finally loaded some of my Amgen Tour video to YouTube.

If you're interested, here's what I posted:

1. Colavita-Sutter Home drafting two riders back up through the caravan to the field.

2. Slogging up a climb. Some good radio chatter in the background.

3. Flying down the descent. That's me driving. We're about 10 feet from the rider at 45mph.
(If you're reeeeeally nice to me, I might get you a free ride in the car next year.)

Why didn't the Colavita riders just grab on to the side mirrors? It would have been a lot less effort...

;)

"Look! A race official! Get out from behind the car!!"

:D

I asked that same question that day, and I've forgotten the answer.
I'll research it.

I think the fines are greater if you're actually holding onto the car. I know there's a hefty penalty for taking mechanical service from the car. Though they show that in TV a lot, it's totally illegal.

I was right behind Kirk O'Bee while he was getting his saddle adjusted while descending on a twisty road at 50mph. The Commissaire was going ballistic.

If I could only afford to go to CA for the ToC, I'd kiss some ass to get in the chase car and schmooze with some riders later on. I'd even bring my bike and show 'em how it's properly done....

.....getting dropped in grand style, that is.
